Unexpected Incoming, Outgoing & Incoming
Wow! And I wasn’t even planning on buying a watch.
Took my son and his friend to a nearby shopping centre today. While they were off doing their thing I decided to do a little window shopping. Popped into the Rolex AD there (also sells other brands) and as I walked in I joked “Hi, just thought I would see what Rolex you have available”. The lady laughed and said “We thought you might. Have a seat.” Well, that was odd, but I thought I would run with it. She disappeared for a couple of minutes and came back beaming, with a brand new black dial SS Daytona. “Is this what you were hoping for?” she smiled. Well, actually, no it wasn’t. I don’t like Daytonas. But, in this climate... I looked it over, declined to have it sized saying I would do it at home, paid and ran! I ran straight to one of the secondary market dealers in the centre, who seemed quite happy to help me out. Then I ran straight to an Omega AD and had a lovely time trying on a few pieces. I ended up with a watch I’ve had an eye on for a while, a white faced SM300 on rubber (and a few more £000s in the bank than when I left home). I think I’m a bit in shock, but I couldn’t turn that opportunity down. Strangely the same Rolex AD nearly sold me a Sub a few months ago when I went in to pick up a new bracelet for my Sub. I actually wanted the bracelet that time (and had already paid for it) so I pointed out their mistake. I couldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth twice!
