Icon2 New Explorer two-tone for women ?

Hi !

I know that most purist of the new explorer in yellow roselor don't like this model so much. Myself included the 1st time I saw it. But I must admit that "in real" the watch is gorgeous and that usually I love to see women with professionnal models and bigger dials instead of a "simple" datejust.

I have an important birthday next year for my girlfriend and I suscribed to a local AD as I should get it in a few month only (less requests that the steel of course). She really likes to stand out from her friends who all have the classic datejust. So the question is :

=> What do you think of a pretty blond girl wearing a 36mm two-tone Explorer ?

Is it a good choice or too masculine ? The yellow gold adds a feminine touch to this professional and functional watch without being too girly (diamonds and other unnecessary decorations that she don't like that much I think).

thanks for your advices

My wife has one. Absolutely loves it. I also have one and feel pretty damn masculine. :)

Although I don't wear it, it is on stand by for my daughters 30th. I wear my bluesy. Nonetheless, would happily wear it and think it looks great on any gender.

It is a stunning bit of kit.
Purists? Yawn.... :)

I think that reference works really well for the misses.

Agreed, and I also think it works extremely well for the misters. It's just a damned nice watch.

Tbh I thought the two tone was a woman’s watch these days anyway.

Your gf will love it. My friend was looking for a DJ31 for his wife and when his AD offered him the 124270, he thought it would be an awesome "power" watch for her, and it looks great. For her wrist it has presence, but not oversized like a dinner plate.

I recently purchased the 124273 and I love the Rolesor. I'm sure your girlfriend will too. Here's a pic of them side by side.

About 10 out 10 times I’ve said to my wife, man look at those shoes, they’re hot, her response was a disgust equal to wearing Crocs with a wedding dress. Surprises are great, because the best part is they’re usually free. But when it comes to woman sh$t like bags, shoes and jewelry(this falls under jewelry), it’s best to have a REAL good idea of they’re taste by taking them around and looking or viewing in video and getting their opinion.
I bet at least 7(maybe 8) out 10 woman would pick a two tone diamond dial DJ in 36mm every day over the Explorer or as surprised as you might be a Cartier watch or bracelet. Don’t ever confuse what you like with what she’ll like. Free is great but getting what you REALLY want free is way better.

My advise is to conduct a small unit level recon to collect intel, ie ask her in ambiguous ways about said watch or watches.

Yeah I agree : the goal is to find what she likes. Thank you all for your tips and the amazing photo ! In fact I went on the new Explorer because a few weeks ago she saw the new 36mm DJ with flutted champagne dial that I was looking for her and she didn't like it...

- A few years ago she liked the two tones Datejust, but
- not anymore. I think mostly because their friends now have the classic DJ with all the most common dials. She always like to be different from the masses.
- She likes dark dials
- 36mm fits her perfectly
- Did not like diamonds on the DJ
- Already has a Cartier in steel (white dial) and really prefer watches instead of expensive and useless bracelets.

=> If she would choose without any limitation she would go for a full-gold Day Date without diamonds. I think mostly to get something different and unique around us and from what she already has. But that's really another budget and not raisonnable.

Well I'll continue to think about it by the time my AD calls me back. Thx!

Now that is crucial info. Seems you have already scouted out her taste and likes. With that in hand seems like a slam dunk, the Explorer two tone is an amazing watch and if it were 39mm I’d buy it or ahem…get on the “list” to buy it.

I have both the steel and the two tone. I agree with many of the comments on here. It's a fantastic watch for anybody. It might be the best watch I've ever owned. I'm 6' tall and 185 pounds and find the size to be damn near perfect.

I think it would be great gift. I’d love to get my wife one, but she’s into the real girly watches. She wants a DJ31, two tone, fluted bezel, jubilee champagne dial with diamonds on it.

It’s a very nice TT and I would have bought one in 40-42mm.

took my missus to the AD to look at DD's as I was looking to surprise her, good job I did as she decided she didn't like them and only the yacht master 37 which we managed to buy not that much later at retail.

I don't believe there exists a more unisex watch in the entire lineup, other than perhaps the OP34 silver.

However I'm also of the purist variety, so I just pretend the word "Explorer" is absent from the dial, and that it's a TT OP36 with a flip-lock clasp .

Perish the thought a two tone explorer. Not a tool watch or manly? No one uses a Rolex watch as tool watch. You are dating yourselves.

I feel so grateful to be allowed to spend so much money lol in this crazy world we're living in.
