Any Fishermen Out There.. What The Hell is this Fish?

I went fishing yesterday and was off the coast of Cape Cod in Nantucket sound area. We were fishing for blues and I caught this fish and no one knows what it is, help.

Sorry about pic. quality its an iphone. The fish was a little over a foot long and weighted about a pound. It was pretty strong too.

Bruno, that fish is called a sea-robin,it has wings and also has legs,it is edible, but not so good,I've tried them in New Jersey.
Also they are good for bait if fileted.

How did I catch one of those at the surface? I thought sea robbins were bottom dwelling fish only. I was using a surface lure to catch blues.

It was probably swimming near the top feeding, but yes the fish you caught is typically a bottom dweller.

I used to catch them all the time while fishing in the Great South Bay on my uncles boat... Since they skeeved me so bad when my uncle wasn't looking I would just clip the line and tie on a new rig. LoL If he saw me do that he would call me a sissy, I didn't want any part of those grunting fish!

LoL

No shame in doing it!

The worst part about them is they actually give a little fight at first and lead you to believe that you have something else on the line because of their resistance in the water........
