And why not? It’s got better water resistance (150m) than the Explorer (100m), better lume on dial and hands, blacked-out rehaut and 99% brushed steel case and band makes it a more stealthy field watch, a flatter caseback gives it lower profile, and drilled lugs make it easier to change straps.

The domed crystal and red seconds hand give it more character, too, and the fact that Rolex registered the name Ranger in 1929, almost a quarter century before they registered the Explorer name, gives it some history cred. Tudor/ETA 2824 movement is a workhorse, and you can find them for a fraction of the price of the Explorer. I’ve owned both and only kept the Ranger.

100% Agree. I also only kept the Ranger over the 214270

I really like the Ranger and have tried it on with intent to take it home several times, but have always bailed on the bracelet model due to the straight end links. It is a mystery to me how photos convince me to buy it, then looking at that gap on my wrist makes me walk away. Maybe I should just buy a strap only version

It would be hard for me to disagree with you more but to each their own.

Yes, quite a few people seem to not care much for the end links, though they were standard on many Tudor and Rolex models at one time*. Ranger is quite the strap monster anyway, so you can have fun finding the right one for you.

I can’t get past the crown sticking out weirdly. It’s a design feature that makes no sense to me. The rest of the watch is great.

It's so you can wind and set it easily when it's on the Bund strap.

Love the Ranger model line! Wish they would have done more with it after the North Flag but... guess they weren’t daring enough

I’ve seen that pic previously, it’s a good point but it still just looks like the crown has been left pulled out.

Great watch. I was hoping that Tudor would do an update and add the in-house movement.

My wife loves her Ranger. Reminds her of simple, easy to read watch the USAF gave me during pilot training in 1984. She wears it on a camo NATO bracelet--proud military wife.
