Frank Mir or Brock Lesnar????

I say Frank will school Brock this time ( again), but it will be a much better match than the first time around.
Brock is huge, but Frank has the experience & is not that much smaller.
Unfortunately I will in transit during the fight, so may miss it

Sorry, haven't followed UFC since Royce Gracie was king...watched a little bit of Vale Tudo and Pride...even recently I've been trying to force myself into watching it, especially when no boxing is on...I do like Cung Le, I remember him from his San Shou kung fu days, I like Nick Diaz, but I really don't know any of the current crop...here are some quotes I found today (yesterday) by Floyd Mayweather Jr. on some UFC guys:


On UFC/Liddell:

“Man, who in the UFC as good as Floyd Mayweather? Look back to 2-3 years ago, when this all started. One of the stars in the sport, Chuck Liddell, has gone 3-4. The man has been Knocked out so many time his boss made him retire. How many times you seen Floyd Mayweather knocked out? How many times you seen Floyd Mayweather even knocked down? None.”

On Machida:

“Who? Who’s Lyoto Machida? Lyoto Machida? Oh you mean that guy who sold 200,000 PPVs now he’s a superstar? It doesn’t take much over there does it? How is Machida as good as Floyd Mayweather? Because he’s beaten a few unskilled bar room fighters? At the end of the day, you already know, when you watch Floyd Mayweather you see the past, present and future of the sport. Machida don’t deserve to be mentioned in he same breath as me. Kousta Tszyu would whip up on his stank ass anyway.”

On Fedor:

“Again, who? Oh, you mean that Russian guy Oscar let fight for him? The guy who fought Freddie Roach’s boy? Yeah, I know him. He’s a nice guy, but man was Roach’s boy whippin’ up on him until he got that hail Mary overhand. He needs to get at a real boxing coach like Roger Mayweather to teach him how to throw a punch. The man had his head down and his eyes closed when he threw that punch, anyone who says that wasn’t luck doesn’t know much about the sweet science…”


As fast as Floyd is, I'd love to see him get ripped apart by any MMA guy. I won't get into a boxing vs MMA debate, but I would pay to see Floyd get arm barred or better yet put to sleep by some ju jitsu expert

Floyd obviously has a mouth that runs as fast as his 1-2. You cant jab a takedown or get a standing 8 after a choke or arm bar. 6 oz gloves deliver much more impact than 12 or 16oz gloves. Boxing and mma are really completely different animals under close inspection, I think Floyd would have a hard time competing in the lightweight divsion.

As for the Lesnar Mir fight, Mir got his butt whomped in the first fight and was submitted by possibly the easiest hold from which to escape . Lesnar's loss was soley due to inexperience.
I think Lesnar will make Mir's face unrecognizable by the end of the 3rd round.

BTW, I know the weights a re way different...a lightweight in boxing is 135 lbs, a lt heavyweight is 175, middle is 160, welter is 147, what are the MMA equivalents?

In mma, light is 155, welter is 170, middle is 185, light heavy is 205

In ufc thats it. Wec and some smaller orgs. have a featherweight about 135 or 145.
The interesting conversation is how much more safe the mma is compared to boxing. The standing 8 count?? How do you let a guy with a concussion keep getting his head pounded in?
In mma if your knocked into what would call for a standing 8, thats it, game over. The submitted also always have the opportunity to tap out and avoid injury.

I have a feeling Lesner is going to kill Mir. Mir is better trained but now that Lesner has some good experience and his strength and size advantage. I would be suprised if Mir made it to the second round.

Only 20 lb difference.

George St Pierre match will be another good one on the card that night.

I'd love to see Floyd Mayweather fight Fedor, then Floyd may think twice about what he has to say...

Sorry to get OT, but my favorite was Kazushi Sakuraba, he was pure showman...cartwheels, all these crazy moves that probably wouldn't work in today's UFC but he did them when he fought in Pride..just like Pacquiao is known as the Mexi-cutioner for all the legendary Mexican boxers he beat, Sakuraba was 'the Gracie Hunter' or Gracie Killer, I forget. He beat 3 or 4 of them, broke Renzo's (pretty sure it was Renzo) arm by twisting it grotesquely backwards, but lost all 3 fights against 'the axe murderer' Wanderlei Silva, who I saw in a promo is fighting someone soon

I think Silva's fighting Rich Franklin. Speaking of Pacquiao, Id love to see him fight Mayweather.

Brock will knock Mir out in the first round, ref will stop the fight, there will be blood. Brock is a symbol of the ever evolving UFC. As the years pass, the fighters get faster, stronger, smarter and more well-rounded. Brock is the first of many top athletes that will come to dominate MMA.

If, and thats a big if, Floyd Mayweather ever mans up and fights in the MMA, he will get knocked out cold. He will feel for the first time in his life what a punch is supposed to be. None of this soft pitter pat tapping for points in MMA...just solid knockouts...what boxing used to be back in the day. Boxing is old school, all the action is at the UFC and Affliction.

Any current MMA figther worth his salt wouldn't even need to take Mayweather down, do arm/leg bars, any submition moves....just straight up boxing with that chump.

Fedor would crush/humiliate Mayweather in less than 1 minute, he would be in the hospital for a month, Dr. 90210 would have to fix up him up real good.
