Be sure to post a thread with your Explorer on Everest. Never have seen any pics of it on the summit!

Forget it, nothing will happen.
Been there, done that, both SA & AD still there.

I took my watch off and put it into the case during the climb to Namche, that's a killer. It never came out of the case again.

By the time you get to Dingboshe you'll have forgotten what it's like to poo in a proper toilet, so this Rolex event will be so far from your mind that it won't matter.

By the time you get to Gorakshep you'll be so busy trying to avoid botulism and food poisoning that you'll have forgotten your Rolex even exists. I've lived in war zones and jungles for extended periods and Gorakshep is still the most miserable place that I've visited on planet earth.

You might have time for it at base camp, that's a bit dull to be honest, but then once you start into the Icefall nothing will matter any more and once again I doubt you'll even remember you have a Rolex.

Have fun

I can appreciate everyone else's thoughts to worry about something else. If you say nothing, will you feel better about it?
There is nothing wrong with reporting the experience. Heck, Rolex may completely accept this as common practice or maybe that's not how it's supposed to be. I'd make them aware of it and then let it go. I wonder if anyone is on this forum from Nepal that has worked with this AD and if this really how it goes.

Honestly I'm surprised Nepal even has a Rolex AD.

An AD (listed on the Rolex website) just tried to sell me a submariner 124060 for double the retail price.

And no it wasn’t used. It was brand new stock that they had.
When I challenged them about it, he put it away and said: ‘lots of people want the watch, if you want it you must pay more’.

This is in a developing country I’m visiting with this as the only AD.
I wouldn’t bother.
You said no to their offer, best to move on

Well India, just to the south, has had Rolex ADs for about two decades longer than the USA, so I'm not surprised.

Why would this be a good choice for you to acquire a watch?

Would you report someone for selling with a discount? Pretty much MSRP says it all. Suggested! If watches can be discounted they can be appreciated as well.

Ok would report it. ADs should never sell that high over MSRP.
My AD manager when I told him I may go grey if he won’t be able to deliver fast he said no, we will never let you go grey and you’ll get your watch from us.
This is how an AD experience should be.

Anyone here from Nepal care to comment on local trading customs, laws, or how they deal with tourists wanting hot watches?

No, but I play golf with the owner of an AD. If you google, there are copies of them online.

Well India I get but Nepal must be a tiny market.

According to the Rolex site there are also ADs in Libya. How do they even securely ship watches to places like that?

Funny I offered an ad I a developing country 1.5x retail for this same watch and they flatly declined. But told me if I bought another watch equal to .5 the value, they’d gladly sell it to me. Sadly, I stupidly declined.

Ok pal I have personally bought two Daytonas off them for over msrp and know others who have as well. I wouldn’t say so flippantly as it would be libelous. I have receipts to prove it and no I won’t be posting them here.
