My answer would be buy it!! That’s also because a DD40 WG meteor dial is one of my grails, so if I could afford it comfortably and I was offered one it’d be in my rotation! If you’re not excited/sold on getting a meteor dial, then I’d consider waiting for the one you really want. As others have mentioned I wouldn’t burn an AD relationship just to make some extra cash. Plus, there’s something really special about getting the exact piece you want from your AD!

Someone needs to explain to me why someone would buy a 40 or 50K watch that they don't want.

And don't start with that relationship crap...

Tell him no thanks. But, soften the blow by telling him you know someone who will drive down and buy it tomorrow.

That would be me, by the way.

I bought this watch, but flipped it for the PT motif very quickly. While the meteorite is really cool, the dial was a bit washed out and blended with the rest of the watch. I realized I prefer more contrast with my dials.

I far prefer the meteorite dial over the black dial on WG. I would get it.

Go for exactly what you want or what you have on your list.

Mate. If the hunter gatherer in you wants to buy it and sell it then so be it.

If the “trf moral” side says leave it then do that.

Personally I’d go in hunter gatherer mode

would pick it up in the blink of an eye, like once someone told me when you get these changes: "it's a gift... just buy it"

Knowing full well what can be done here, what would you do? I’m torn bw a smart money business decision vs a smart relationship business decision.

GO!
yes, just do it and you will earn some money by flipping it as you have already intended to do. but for me, I just buy whatever I intended to wear from my AD, investment value is not my concern.

I'd go for the Meteorite if you are going to wear it. If you're going to flip it then don't do it. Wait for the black. I certainly have not kept every watch I've ever purchased but I don't buy to flip.

The watch is probably sold since I am a couple of day late to respond, but I wouldn't buy the watch if you don't want it. Respectfully decline the offer, thank the AD for considering you as a buyer and request the piece you do want. Since the AD actually thought of you to sell you the 228239 with meteorite dial, then it's likely they will call you when they receive the watch you do want. Others will say buy anything offered and sell it, perhaps, a road you may not be prepared to go down, so just stick with the AD getting the piece you want at a later date.
