Real or Fake

I am seeing a lot of watches for sale that have a screw-in crown with dots under the Rolex Crown symbol in lieu of the horizontal line that is on my authentic Date- Just I bought about 20 years ago, as well as, bracelets that are not original issue but probably after-market as manufactured by Steelinox. Are these watches to be considered fakes or simply originals that have had these two items changed or how are we to tell an original from a replica without opening the case back?

Steelinox isn't a manufacturer, it is Rolex-speak for Stainless Steel and has been used for years.

Two dots is for modern solid crowns, where the line was for wrapped crowns. Also been around now for years.

Of course none of this info guarantees that the watch is authentic.
