116610 vs 126610

Anyone own both and can share some pics of both on wrist? I once owned the 116610 but sold it back in 19. I just sold my DJ41 and I have the desire to get another 116610 but I’m not discounting the 126610 as an option. I think I like the bracelet size and case shape of the 116610 better but it’s hard to tell.

I find the 126610 better proportioned. Less blocky.

That’s exactly what I like about the 116610, the super case.

It's definitely an individual preference call. I too like the 116610-wear it on a rubber strap as it looks great with the slight blockiness. Also have a 126610 kept on the bracelet, but honestly could swap it to a 116610 and be just as happy. I originally sold my 116610 when I bought the 126610, but then bought one back. To me, they do wear/look different. There are a lot of sites with good side by side pics/video, but really need to try them on side by side to get the most solid feel for it.

I own both 114060 and 124060. I prefer the newer case and wider bracelet on the 12xx. It wears better on my wrist YMMV

When I was shopping for my first sub date back in ‘20, I scrutinized between the two, especially since I still had the opportunity to purchase either unworn at that time (less 116610 unworn floating around these days). Most articles and reviews state that the differences are imperceptible, but that isn’t true.

I debated for two months, visiting multiple grey dealers to try on both side by side (that was also an easier option at the time) and they do feel (and even look) distinctly different.

I ultimately went with the 116610 because I just couldn’t get past the clasp on the 126610. It is a beast compared to the clasp on the 116610. And obviously the bracelet wears larger as well. This was a decisive factor for me because I don’t have large wrists. The 126610 felt imbalanced and clunky on me.

Very happy that I made that decision. Now that I am shopping for a no date, I know to only aim for the 114060.

This is such a specific comparison that it comes down to nuanced subjectivity. I recommend finding a grey dealer that has both in stock and trying them on at same time. Really the only true way to determine.

Best of luck.

You make very good points about the bracelet, I once owned a Pelagos and the bracelet was not comfortable to me at all.

116610 vs 126610

I don’t have the 126610, however do have 116610 and the 124060. Here are some pictures comparing them and hope it helps.

So I had this same situation a few months ago. I had a 114060 and after seeing the 124060 I really like the idea of having the updated version but I was hesitant due to the size difference. I have a tiny wrist (6.5) and I thought for sure 41mm would be too big but on the contrary I felt like the 124060 wears more slim. The bracelet didn’t wear any differently to me but the case, by some sort of magic, wears thinner than the maxi case. The clasp is larger but I didn’t feel much of a difference there. Maybe a slight amount in regards to the weight but the 12 series feels more fluid on wrist while the maxi case has a more substantial and solid feel. That’s not to say the 12 series feels dainty or delicate. Just a bit more graceful. I agree with another comment suggesting finding a dealer that has both and spend a little time with each before making the decision. The one big difference that sold me on the 12 is the AR coated crystal. It takes the dial from 720 to 4k!

Had an 116610 that I bought at end of ‘19 and it was great. When the 12s came out my AD showed me one and seemed to fit better on my wrist, but I was happy with the 11.
In March of this year I tried the 12 on again and I made the swap. My AD simply took my 11 and gave me the 12. Very happy I was able to make the trade and I do prefer the new one on my 6.75” skinny wrist…

I’d agree…maybe a bit better balanced, fit wise. Looks wise, they’re very similar, and 99% of the world would never know the difference. But…the 12 series clasp is definitely bigger.
I actually don’t prefer one over the other, they’re both good for their own reasons IMO.

I own examples of both and find the difference to be minor. The movement upgrade is nice though but never really matters to me as they are both quality.

I couple wrist shots of 116610LV - with wider lugs, feels more like a cushion case. Extremely comfortable. Best dial Rolex ever made IMO.

Some of 126610LV - by widening the bracelet, Rolex reduced lug width, giving the watch closer proportions of the venerable 16610 (beautiful), but with the bulletproof modern bracelet. Lovely watch.

When comparing black (LN) versions, most wouldn’t notice the difference. The additional power reserve of the 126610 might be the differentiator, depending on how you wear your watches.

Go for the 126610. The new case proportions are damn near perfect. And the new bracelet fit secures it up there as one of the most comfortable in the SS line now.

I prefer the 11x series because I like the bigger lugs…but it’s not a huge difference. The 12x watches are excellent as well and maybe better proportioned if you prefer a more streamlined watch.

X2. Honestly it’s not like I didn’t like my 11 series Subs, but the new Sub41 is literally Rolex Sub Perfection from clasp, bracelet and case. The balance is perfect and it wears better on my 7” flat wrist.

Maybe my eyes are deceiving me, but the 12x Sub's lugs aren't really different than the 11x on the outside, right?

It looks like they just trimmed .5mm off the inside of each lug to accommodate the 21mm bracelet, but the outside lines of the case look nearly the same.

I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer, they are however quite different watches IMO.

There are things about each I prefer over the other I own both.

11 series : Bracelet,clasp and 3135
12 series : Case

12 series with it's case ,but with 11 series 3135,bracelet and clasp would have been perfect .

I had the choice of the 12 or the 11. Ultimately, the presence of the maxi case won out. The 12 just seemed too slim and refined. Perhaps too "dressy". And of course, no Hulk.

100 per cent agree. I think the 11 series clasp is my favourite of all Rolexes.

11 series for me. I personally like the Super Case as it gives the watch more presence, and in my experience the 11 series wears a fraction larger than the 12, despite being a fraction of a mm smaller. This is a good thing on my 7.75" wrist.

I also prefer the thinner bracelet and clasp, I prefer the lack of AR on the sapphire as it helps the dial match the shiny ceramic bezel better, and I infinitely prefer the 3135 movement.

In fact, there's nothing I prefer about the 12 series (although I do concede the difference are very minor)!
