As I expected for only 10 g in 1400 l (the reason of my question in post #7).

In retrospect, there is probably much more than 10g desolved in water. I'm sure it accumulates. Better test, more corrosive.

Now you will test also other watch materials?
A solution dependent study would be also interesting, for example 10 g in 100 l or 10 l.

Nah. All my SS watches I don't worry about. My RG Panerai is just not made for water so it's off limits.

Nice experiment and thank you for sharing the results
All those complaining about the methodology of your experiment can go to their basement and conduct their own perfect experiment

Then I invite you to join timekeeping (accuracy, precision) experiments of movements. This also creates new supporters LOL

As someone who slid through science and math classes by the skin of my teeth I’m just impressed at all the different concerns/points of consideration everyone came up with. It makes sense a forum that revolves around $10k+ timepieces will have some very intelligent members amongst it’s ranks, but I was truly impressed reading everyone’s posts. Thanks OP for doing this and to everyone who contributed! Such a better read than the speculation/investment/YouTube hype threads I click right past.

The British don't like hot tubs? It that really a thing?

The old Accelerated corrosion/pitting type of test.
Now you're talking
Let's see how that 18k goes up against 24k as the "Gold Standard"

Forget the Rolex, that's one beautiful pool/hot tub setup you got there!

I have. If you mean rain, perfect tubbing weather as long as there's no lightning!

As for cold, I'll agree, anything under -10F (-23C) below requires a hat to mitigate frostbite.

OP: do you have pictures of the results? I know you said there's no difference, but still it'd be cool to see them.

Yep, I've been planning on putting a hot tub in up here in the Pacific Northwest, USA, and the weather here is England'ish. Cool and rainy with infrequent lightning.

End the thread here

FYI my wife wears her Cartier gold bracelets in the hot tub all the time. Never noticed a difference in color. Just like the literally hundreds of thousands of others who do…as well as the thousands of Rolex wearers on vacation or in their backyards who don’t even think of taking their watches off.

I don't expect to see any changes either. I've always had mine on in the hot tub and it's still perfectly fine.

Thank you! The pic is fine! The link that was in the tub was the individual link on the right, correct? I see no color difference between the two anyways, thanks again for reporting results, very helpful!

Yep. Link on the right was the tub link. I feel that I should put a disclaimer that one's mileage may vary. LOL

Indeed, it does not seem to have affected him. Thank you for everything.
