Third watch, the complication

Hi everyone,

Just for fun in my hypothetical 3 watch collection, what people would add to this 2 watch collection. I have small wrists so I am wanting to add a <40mm complicated, PM, leather strap watch.

My ‘beater’ would be my seamaster 36mm on nato
My everyday would be my 15450st blue dial.

For my third watch, I wouldn’t be sure what to add, a Patek or a Lange would be the logical option. Something has always drawn me to the Patek 3940, but the Patek 5205 and Lange 1 also have my attention, any opinions on what would round this trio off nicely?

I would get rid of the seamaster unless it's a sentimental watch and daily the Patek 3940. It's a perpetual calendar, you're supposed to be daily-ing this watch. I know i know, you want to hold it up on a pedestal bc it's a patek but come on it's a sleeper, inconspicuous and meant to be daily-ed.

Or the 39mm lange 1 or even the new "midsize" Lange 1. Nobody would notice those. They would rob the guy with the GMT or datejust instead.

Then I'd add a YG or RG watch. Would not have 3 silver colored watches.

I would opt for the Patek 3940 over the Lange 1

If you are willing to go <40mm, some beautiful Patek options open up at a reasonable price.

3940 is nice although I prefer the 5140, or even a 7234G.

5712 on a leather strap?
That way you have two Genta designs

This one is super easy - the Lange 1. Interesting and modern design, top notch finishing, and wears extremely well (I wear mine all the time).

If you were going Patek, I would do the 5205; I do admire the layout of that watch (love the rose gold and white dial combination).

The sister 3970 was my go-to years ago... another vote for the 3940.

IF the only option is a choice between the Patek and the Lange, it's the Patek or you are just drinking kool-aid.

But why not broaden your horizons? And go with a lesser known higher-end independent?
