Safe buy but only buy it if you will enjoy wearing it

I don’t see this model being offered below retail anytime soon. If you really like it, buying at retail is a good option.

If you care about the value of the watch you probably will sell at some point. Buy the watch to enjoy it. You can make more money investing in other assets than watches.

Sounds like you are not really into the watch if re-sale value is your over-riding criterion.

Would the people in your life whom you have mutual respect for be proud of you as a friend for how you treat this OP? Keyboard warriors - do you consider this your victory?

We are far from keyboard warriors. If that was the OP's question he needs to figure out why/if he should buy a watch. I personally am not interested in helping others invest in watches or speculate on future values. If the OP was asking about revisions to a vintage watch and value considerations that would be different. We put the same effort in as the OP. Not sure why you responded as you did.

If the OP really loved the watch then he wouldn't have to ask so by that measure I'd say don't buy it. Rolex secondary market prices appear to be crashing but Rolex retail prices aren't so by that measure I'd say buy it.

But it doesn't matter what I'd say, does it.

Hutch, nowhere did he mention re-sale. Yet you jumped on the bandwagon shaming him for this.

I stand by my defense for the OP

As others have mentioned if you really Love the watch then pull the trigger. Get it and enjoy the hell out of it regardless of what might happen in the future.

I just purchased one at retail. I’m not sure I like the white text but thought I’d give it a try. The gold text is beautiful imo.

The 43mm TT SD is an amazing upgrade and size wise its really not much different. It has the gold writing on the dial.

Yes but doesn’t have the gorgeous blue dial. I’m a sucker for the blue dial. Just wish the text was still gold. I haven’t received the watch yet so won’t know for sure until next wk. hopefully it won’t disappoint.

I am loving it. I would like a bluesy too and this will complete my trilogy of dive watches which now consist of 2 SD43, in SS and 2T.

I don't think you should buy it and come back to revisit when you are ready.

Rule of thumb is if you don't find the model displayed in the watch case of your local AD, it's most likely worth above MSRP on the grey market. Shop around and see if it's possible to buy a bluesy at retail, it will give you a good indication if the deal offered by the dealer is good.

In the best of buying times most were lucky to get a 10-15% discount. MSRP at any time is usually a prudent buy.

Your post is fine. Please ignore the people on here who need to talk down to you to feel better about themselves. Maybe they are compensating for something. Somedays this forum is as toxic as Facebook

The most interesting thing about this post is the term "half gold". I've never heard that term and I had to think about it for a moment lol. Like people are saying here, if you like it, if you want it but if you cant live without it, you should get it. I love my 116613LB and I had to have one when I bought it. If its available from an AD at retail, that's still amazing...

Me too, and I also prefer Half Gold to "bi-metal", which is or was common usage in the UK. Come to think of it, Half Gold even sounds better to me than Rolesor, which is a 90-year-old trademark. Sign me up for the Half Golders
