Maybe those folks are “runners” - that is, people who get a fee from secondary dealers to fish for Rolexes at ADs?

In Japan they would have to switch runners pretty often. 2 years ago ADs here started a rule where you can only get 1 SS Sports Rolex per year and only 1 of the same model every 5 years. Unless the ADs turn a blind eye for the runners, they need to have new people on hire every few weeks.

We were in NYC a week or two before Christmas (i.e. it was very cold) and there were people camping on the sidewalk in front of 30 Rock. I asked the security guard what was going on. He said "they're waiting to get in for Saturday Night Live". I think it was a Thursday. I asked the people in line if they knew that they could watch the show at home for free, but they were not amused.

Just kidding. I don't talk to strangers. They may hit me on the head and steal my Rolex.

What was the question?

Oh, yeah, I wonder how many of those 3-times-a-day shoppers are fools with nothing better to do, or potential dealer/flippers just stopping in before they check their eBay auction status?

Still a crazy market, despite the purported "Happening." The needle has hardly moved.

Could it be that some of these ADs operate on first come first served basis? If so, regular customers don't stand a chance against these squatters.

Some people don't have a life. Sad, really.

Profiteers waiting on easy money. $2000-$4000 a week adds up fast.

Yet there were 7 or 8 customers in there.

So I ask the service guy “Do you have something desirable in here in the back?” “Why are all these people in here for nothing?”

His response : “Timing.” “They come in daily some of them 3 times a day everyday.” “Opening, midday and before closing hoping to be right here when a shipment arrives.”

Fug that.
that has to be a really bad joke, not make any sense at all, if you go a Rolex AD and don't see any watch but you see full of costumer ..... I bet you they are waiting to receive their watches directly from the back of the store
