im a ymii buyer/wearer and not gmt and daytona

and there are tons and tons and tons and tons like me as well!

asking on here where everyone just thinks its cool to bash the ymii will not do any justice to you or the watch.

if you like the watch, buy it.

I find it funny how negative people are about this model

this is the second most complicated movement in the entire Rolex lineup

its a steel watch -- it is sporty - it is complicated

I almost guarantee that when it is discontinued it will sky rocket in value

people are always chasing the latest hot watch but the real winners long term are the ones that are getting far less love today

dont buy it for that reason - buy it cause its a steel sport watch with and excellent complication that people would find useful for more than just regatta functions if they took the time to actually learn what it can do

One things for sure, there's NOT a lot of them out there, else you'd see more threads here about people talking about this model. Most of them can be had.........they are in the cases, but no one's buying. If they discontinue, then they're gone for good.

Reminds me of GI Joe and Star Wars figurines when I was a kid. The popular ones were always out of stock. The unpopular figurines stayed on the shelf collecting dust. Now, 30-40 years later, it's the unpopular figures that cost the most.

This is an old thread but I recently bought a two tone rose gold ym 2… it’s the best fitting watch I own and my wrists are small. I really find myself using the countdown timer function frequently when cooking and walking. I measure walks in ten minute increments. I also love wearing this watch at restaurants because people don’t care or know what it is. The rose gold is subdued but changes the dial completely as well. This is my favorite watch for now, I’d recommend it to anyone.

Also, isn’t it unhealthy to leave the minutes hand, cal it what you will, active 24x7 ? I’ve seen much debate on this but while this piece isn’t a chrono it’s the same concept. The regatta timer hand should be stopped unless necessary, I’d think.

I’m probably wrong so please correct me if I am.

The YM2’s regatta timer chronograph is based on a vertical clutch system.

What this means is that the wheel that runs the chronograph runner assembly also acts as a wheel train.

And the wheel train is already constantly running in order for the watch to work, since the chronograph assembly & the wheel train both sit on the same vertical post.

There are no sharp gear teeth meshing together to engage or disengage the chronograph, so no excess wear and tear is being imposed.

There’s no issue with letting it run uninterrupted in perpetuity.

Since both the wheel train & chronograph assembly are on the same vertical post, probably the only downside of the vertical clutch system is the potential for the entire assembly to seize up.

When that happens, the watch only runs when the chronograph is also activated.

You can let it run without any harm.
