US Open Men’s Champion and new world #1 wearing a Rolex

What a match! It’s great to see the next wave of tennis champions. Congrats to Carlos Alcaraz on his first slam and world #1 ranking as of tomorrow.

Alcaraz put on his Daytona (SS Black dial?) in preparation for the awards ceremony.

He signed as an ambassador in January - looks like he’s wearing the same Daytona! Wonder what Rolex will send him in celebration of his win?!

Yep, baby Rafa is definitely a special player…
Played in 3 straight 5 set matches just to get to the final…
I guess at 19yrs old it’s no big deal though…

I couldn’t play 1 x 5 sets at 19, let alone 3. This guy is a machine.

This guy is such a beast. I will enjoy watching him for the next many years. I think there was another prior post referencing it, but the women’s champ, Iga Swiatek, is also a Rolex ambassador. Rolex must be quite pleased with their tennis ambassadors!

I’m confused, because that looks like a smooth (not domed) bezel DD36. Is it just the picture, and it’s actually fluted? Especially since it looks like WG…

Ah! I think you’re right! Looking at the image on a different screen where I can zoom in better I see the bezel is fluted, the metal appears yellow, and the dial has no “day” window.

In a world of oversized bling, it’s a nice, classic, choice.

Yes, I imagine she could have any ref that she wants. With these ambassadors, I always wonder how much choice they get for the pieces they wear. I imagine Federer could basically pick whatever he wants, whereas a lesser player maybe maybe gets told what to wear?

I’m sure they can all have whatever they want, though perhaps Rolex provides specific pieces to be seen in post-tournament? Though in a world where every Rolex sells itself, and there are no special editions, it’s not like there’s a need to push something in particular.

Would be interested in the reaction if, for example, one’s preference was for something odd, like a YMII, or a guy who preferred small and wanted to be seen in an OP34.
