Why not tell the AD? Give them the ultimatum and if they don’t deliver, move on. The AD hasn’t delivered in YEARs, why wait around and why care about what they care or think, they obviously could not care less about keeping you as a customer.

I’m “supposedly” next in line for a watch or 2 that I already own. And 1 or 2 that I don’t. I damn sure don’t and won’t tell my A D “hey take me off because of blah blah” Why not? In case they offer me a dial configuration I don’t have and may like more than what I have. If ever offered the same exact watch? I’ll cross that bridge if and when I get there. Not expecting any calls so there’s that. Maybe they’ve found me on TRF and already know And if so oh well. At least I have what I want versus endless waiting

No need to mention it. Wear the pieces you have purchased from that AD when you go in. That means more for them to see you enjoy (and keep) what they are selling you.

bought my 1st Rolex on the aftermarket
If you can get what you want and can pay for it and are comfortable with the price being paid then buy what you want.
I told my 'SA' who has, to the point, serviced me with jack sh*t in product that I bought a GMT on the aftermarket, still expressed I would like to buy root beer and that if one came my way it would be awesome At least they know I am serious and will definitely spend the money on what I want; so optimistic that one day "I will get THE call..." but until then I will buy what I want to buy if I see value in it and can pay the price that needs to be paid. |

I see it as if they see you bought one on the grey market they’ll think less likely you would have flipped if they sold one to you.

Sage advice. Life is too short to wait for something that may never happen. If the opportunity presents itself take it. Worse case scenario you have to flip a watch. Best case scenario, you're enjoying a watch.

You can either charm them or buy a bunch of other stuff from them...and I don't mean a bunch of other SS Rolexes. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk |

The 3 ADs in my area, 2 of them are Rolex AD only (branded) & the 3rd is a watch store only which happens to be branded Rolex 'glassed off' section. So from an incremental spend POV, except for the location that sells other brand's watches (of which, they too, have marginal if no stock) there is now incremental items I can buy. So YMMV and the specific insight provided doesn't really bare weight in this scenario. |

My AD sells a lot of other brand watches. They sell Tudors, but not Omega, which are the two other brands that I own. They also sell JLCs. I've always been interested in them, but they're always too dressy and $$$ for me to pull the trigger. There isn't really any Tudor that I'm interested atm. They also sell diamonds/jewlery etc, but I'm really bad at picking things for my wife. Weirdly I took her with me to Omega boutique to buy my moonwatch and we walked out with a moonwatch and like $5k of earnings. I didn't even know Omega sells earnings! But the style of jewelry my AD sells are sort of old fashioned and my wife likes stuff from Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. But that's besides the point. Right now there isn't anything that I want to spend with my AD except a kermit at MSRP, so just kind of wait and chitchat is all that I can really do.

I'm currently in this same scenario. Visited an AD for the first time last month expressing interest in a watch. On the off chance I visited a 2nd AD and they were able to deliver the watch in a weeks time. Last week AD #1 contacted me to inform me watch I requested arrived (which took them a little over a month to acquire). I politely stated I am allowing someone else have my allocation. I guess I shouldn't say why to AD #1 from the general consensus of this thread.

Any relationship is a two way street. At the point that the AD's are transparent with you then be transparent with them. Until then, mind your own business and keep your life and purchases to yourself. It is somewhat funny, but sad at the same time, that so many people think that the AD cares about you beyond that of a customer. I believe most are neutral on what they say and do but ultimately it is about business. Which is code for making money through sales. They can sell a SS Daytona anytime they have one and you have to believe that there are better established customers than you with bigger spend histories. I see so many young collectors hoping to be the one that gets the call on a special piece. It does happen but not frequently enough to think you will be the one. Buy your Daytona form a Trusted Seller, wear it when and where you choose, even to the AD. If the ask about it tell them you got it from another AD that is competition to them. The truth is not in them so why should it be in you. Good luck.

let me get this straight, your SA clearly lied and misled you, but you're afraid to lie to him if he ever asks whether you bought that Daytona you've been pining for? i think we both know the answer... and no, unless you tell him, how will he know. Enjoy it for now and keep pushing for yours... he knows you've been waiting. if it comes, sell the grey one and enjoy the one with your name on it. you did nothing wrong.
