In theory it would seem so, but in practice not so much. One of my favorite all time watches(at the time 2012) was a linde werdelin hard black ii(ss dlc diver). It was very stealthy and was roughly the price of a sub no date. It was dlc coated and I took it the caribbean for some swimming and ocean fun. Literally in a few days I see rust forming near the crown area where some of the dlc had worn off and rusted the metal. After that I soured on all things dlc, looking at subs that have been treated they have points of shinyness showing through where the dlc has worn off and it looks terrible. I think the solution here if you want that look is to go ceramic. Rolex is smart not pursuing that route as it would tarnish the brand by having watches that won't age well with wear.

I have not seen it. I do like the pictures though and do agree about the contrasting color. Nothing wrong with the ceramic tudor, just for me it didn't pop as a must have.

No

Rolex is also not missing the market on smart watches, slap bracelets, Beanie babies, or the Macarena.

Should Rolex introduce a DLC watch?

Is Jeep missing the opportunity to make sports cars? No.

Not every manufacturer should target every sub-market within a category.

To answer your question, no, I don’t think Rolex should pursue the DLC “market.” That is what they do through Tudor.

Rolex didn't give a Frak
Rolex didn't make those examples though and Rolex is very against anyone tampering/modding their products. Even lawsuits in some cases.

PVD/DLC looks tacky and looks out of the line on a Rolex

I have a PVD B&R - the annoying thing about that watch is that any ding exposes the SS beneath it. I'd never buy a PVD again.

PVD scratches really really easily. Once scratched, there's no going back. It's there for life.
Your Rolex is a lifetime possession. That first scratch is there for eternity.
Do you really think Rolex is missing a market here.

Maybe they're missing the market on complaints.
