I must say that I will always have more love for my Rollies. I do however enjoy wearing my Pam as well. I do like the versatility of the different straps but I will always stay true to Rolex. To each his own.

I think a lot of us started off with Rolex then progressed on to other brands. Thats why so many pp cannot let go of their love for Rolex.

In my view those upper two watches are not even in the same league. Rolex by a mile.

I also bought my first Panerai Pam48 and sold it to buy a Pam88. I really do like this 88 but still on a waiting list for Pam312. Having said that, I still don't think Panerai had won me over just yet. But I do find myself wearing this Pam88 for two days in a row now and I don't see taking it off anytime soon. |

Having just dealt with Panerai service center, I was pleasently surprised, fast efficient and polite. Rolex sometimes feel like there doing you a favour sorting your watch out

Although not a Panny owner, I still want to say something about it. And the following is strictly my own opinion and therefore not 'a' truth! With the original concept, Panerai had something special. That's why I like the no longer available model 1950 so much. After the general public picked up the Luminor Marina they began to produce a plethora of watches to cater for all. I do understand that two types of watches can't put bread on the table but some of the authenticity is lost. So yes, if I had the cash I would buy a 1950 but as an addition, not a replacement.

but in a way..Rolex does the same...adding watch styles to cater to the customer... I would like to add one to my collection...but it would have to be one with their own manuifattura...just not keen on ETA...

I like the way PAMs look, but they wear too big for my wrist.
As for trading in my Rolexes for PAMs, like JJ I would rather commit seppuku. |

Panerai's I fear are just not for me...I like how distinctive they are, and I like seeing people wearing them because I know that it is really a watch for enthusiasts, but I just can't LOVE them. I think part of it might be because a true panerai is a panerai on a strap, and I really don't like straps. I'm not sure. But either way for me to buy a watch it has to be because I love it.
And just to make sure that I am not cheating myself...I went to my local AD on Wednesday and tried on a 111, which is the one that I like the most, and I left with no real desire. But I cry not, because it just means I can buy more Omegas! |

I've a Pam 48, and would love the Pam 210. Saying that, I am aware that in the rarified world of the uberrich, small vintage watches are becoming wildly popular. Early and, to my eyes, tiny Calatravas and other watches are being worn by the too-cool. This portends a trend that may see the Panerai as a victim of fashion. Just my $0.02.
