I like the 124060 for me, but in your case I would vote 126610 Sub date over the TT blue Sub. I dislike the nickname "bluesy" and it sounds as equally annoying to me as using the term "Rollie." I also think two tone would get old after awhile. Just my personal preference.

Only one Submariner for life, 126610 Date or 126613LB Bluesy ?
Quote:
Or 4, you really are yourself and choose what you like for example mentioned TT sub. Following the consensus and pick the (risk-free) SS is the safest choice. I sold my 116610LN recently after 5 years of ownership and kept the TT. So I must be -in your eyes- option 1 because 2 and 3 doesn’t fit the bill.

I love the blusey. It was THE watch that got me into the hobby as a teen. Always aspired to have one.
I ended up with the 126610 - it’s the better choice for EDW When I go gold it’s going to be the full banger. Solid sub or DD. Why hang out in the middle? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Would this be my only watch? If so the black sub, if not Bluesy and a different black dial watch.

126613LB Bluesy! One of my favorite references. I just love that blue sunburst dial!

This is kind of a silly thread as this is purely a cosmetic preference being the same watch just with different metal/dial configuration.
The more conservative choice is the steel black dial and the more fun choice the bluesy. My choice is bluesy 100x over. For people going on about the 116610LN/126610LN being the original while PM’s came later I’d say come back with a no date for a true homage to original piece and much better dial symmetry. I think the black dial date sub is the most boring uncreative watch choice possible, it doesn’t fit the original submariner spec of not having a date and doesn’t have a fun sunburst dial like the hulk or bluesy. Living in an affluent area of a big city this is one of the most common watches to spot in public and nothing screams I have a Rolex but know nothing about them than a black sub date. And while not the original iteration the bluesy is an absolute icon in the catalogue, having been in continuous production since the 80’s and heavily advertised by Rolex. Others mentioned getting tired of the blue, I think very much a personal preference, I never get tired of mine and remains the favorite to wear even among many much higher tier pieces. |
