How much for 233 or 270?
Members,
I am trying to purchase Brand new or 99% brand new Panerai 233 or 270. Question 1: How much would you pay for 233 or 270? what is great price? Question 2: do you prefer 233 or 270? |

I prefer the 233.. cleaner dial, the 6 is larger on 233 while it is smaller on the 270..
the 270 also have a squeesed in 9 and am/pm indicator whic makes it a tad busier... for me 233 with the doot is magic and the 270 is more money for less charm... i think at the AD you are looking for 14,500 usd for 233 and 17,500 (not100%sure) for 270.. on the grey market you could get the new for 11,000 to 13,000 usd while the 270 is 13,000 usd to 14,000 usd... have a look on ebey and peneristi for a good greymarket guide.. |

If it's the same price and you like the 270 then go for it, a lot of people prefer the 233, but the 270 still sells well so a lot of people must like them, i know a couple that have moved and the buyers haven't said anything bad about it. I'm a bit surprised you can get both at the same price, usually secondhand the 233 is about $10000 and the 270 is around $12000, i know the 270 prices have been coming down a bit, i guess the 233 has levelled off.

If it's the same price then the 270 is the more expensive watch, so should be the better deal.

I had a chance to get the 270 at a very good price which was J series and couple of hundred more than a 233 K series. Decided to go for the 233 and have not regretted since. IMO the 233 will hold its value better than the 270 since the dot 233 is going to be phased out and it is going to be sort of mini limited edition.

Even if 270 would be cheaper than 233, I would still choose 233 over 270 anytime for many reason stated here over and over.
270 is bit thicker than 233 mind you! |

Buy the one you like, not the price...
My answers,
1. I would pay from 9000-10000 for a 233 preowned, price varies as per the completeness/condition of the watch set. As for 270 price difference is about 1000 +/-. 2. 233! Even if they are the same price..i would still go for the 233. She's the perfect pam for me now. She's got all the elements of the Panerai history.

I had so many offers when i traded the 140, i had a 270 BNIB and several other 270s/233s, in the end settling for an I series 233 as it was just a thing of beauty and after trying the 270 on it just didn't feel or look as good. The one thing i would say is that with a 270 at the same price it does give you the option of trying it, then trading it for a 233 if you're not happy, that gives you a little bit more ease for a deal because i think there will be 233 owners who would move up to a 270 and pay a little extra for the deal. But, as i always say, buy the watch that you like best, price is just a number (unless that number is out of your league of course!)

It seems to me, that manual Panerai hold value way better than automatic. Just look at prices of 104 vs 005/112
