18 days? Well: That was fast. I'm in the club!

My mother just got the call to pick up my 2020 Submariner Date 41mm 126610LN Rolex! Unfortunately, I live outside of the country and won't be able to get my hands on it until June 2023, when I travel to the U.S. I'm excited. I can't believe it. 18 days? I thought Rolexes were hard to get--especially the Submariner Date? I'll update you with pics when she gets it. A question about storage and tipping. How should my Mom store my Sub for the next seven months? Obviously, in a reasonably cool room, correct? Call me an idiot, but will anything happen to the watch? Anything else I need to know? Also, she mentioned tipping the AD because he told her he's off on Saturday, Nov 5th but will come in to give her the watch. Should we tip him? Is it common to tip ADs? The guy's been incredible to her and, of course, me. But then I read they make about 48 g's a year, plus the markup for most Rolexes is 40%!? Thanks for your help, Forum members. And, this will be my first Rolex. Ever.

Congratulations. How are you going to find patience for 7 months? I would ask your mom to ship it out to you first thing next week if I was you

A 2020 Sub...?? The watch has been at an AD for two years or maybe its used. For the storage, room Maust be 76 degrees, humidity bw 20-25% and once a week it must be dipped in water. Subs need water on occasion or they will dry out. Good luck

A 2020 watch and you won’t get it until 2023? It’s 2022 now so I’m guessing this is a used watch? I’m so lost. You can store it underwater for the next 7 months and nothing will happen to the sub.

Tipping? I think you need to be more discrete. Maybe a nice bottle of liquor to say thank you.

No way could I wait 7 months. Find a way to get it.

I'm glad you asked. I store mine in here under the ice on an Arctic Island off the coast of Norway.

It is a bit of a trek to get it out each time I wear it but those Submariners are precision instruments.

Has your Mom done the BAppSt (Sub) 6Dig - (Bachelor of Applied Storage - Submariner - six digit models). Be careful if she did the undergraduate GMT storage course, she'll need to start over because the Sub is very different.

The 126610LN is the newest model of the Submariner. Which was released in 2020. A brand new watch came in, and now it's mine.

Thanks for that; I understand it will be fine to store it. I live in Vietnam. No way a Rolex will make it to me, no matter the level of insurance.

It's a brand new sub. I'll post pics. I'm saying model is the 2020 model. 41mm iteration.

Congrats on the Sub Date! I know how you feel and won't be an easy wait but you can have peace of mind knowing that it's in good hands, waiting for you.
Box in bag and into the closet would be good enough a storage, indefinitely. I've been away for several months at a time having left watches in their boxes inside the gun safe or a closet or a dresser drawer. Always found them as I left them so no worries there, either.
As for tipping the SA I would consider inappropriate. But of course a considerate gesture in the form of a liquor or some good quality chocolates, following a kind "thank you" would not be frowned upon...

Thanks so much. Okay. We won't give cash. We will give a nice box of chocolates or something like that. Thanks for your suggestion.

Only 18 days?? Wow! That is great news indeed, huge congrats, man. I would ask your mom to put it in a safe with a bag of dessicant until you get home in 7 months’ time. Stay strong until then.

No tips! That's considered a huge faux pas, it lacks the human touch.

Tequila tastings are known to work well

Congrats! I got my very first Rolex (126610LV) in 2 months and thought it was fast. My SA originally told me back in late August that she would try to get me the watch by the end of this year. She exceeded my expectations by 2 months. When I picked up my watch, I gave her a hand-written thank you card with a crisp $100 bill in it to show my appreciation. I thought about a gift, a nice bottle of wine or a box of chocolates, but I didn't know if she even liked those stuff.
