Now there's a Daytona Rainbow to go with the Ice
My Rolex dealer sourced me a Platinum Daytona with diamonds a little while ago and I really like it. And so did my wife but she said that the rainbow was more her thing.
I asked the AD if they could source the Daytona Rainbow for my wife and they were a little cagey but called to say that there was one in the safe I could have if we could sign off on a commission for them to make a necklace I'd briefed them on for her birthday. We did the deal and I wore it home and stuck it in the safe. They'll resize it for her when I hand it over to her in a few months. They had previously sold the watch in 2019 to another of their regular VIP customers who found the piece a bit overwhelming in the flesh. He took it home overnight but returned it next day unworn. I kind of see where they're coming from. Given the prices on the secondary market, I'm surprised they didn't just sell it into the secondary market. It goes to show that Rolex and PP watches are now sold as effective sales incentives. The only small catch was that the warranty started in 2019 but that's not a huge issue. The 116595 RBOW has 36 baguette-cut sapphires around the dial and 56 brilliant-cut diamonds. It's a bit of a showstopper. |

Weird, you posted your platinum Daytona a couple weeks ago that preceded the purchase of your rainbow Daytona, but this picture was on Instagram over a year ago…..

Yes, and the older white and yellow gold models had coloured hands and round instead of baguette diamonds on the dials.
Interesting fact I heard from an AD SA (which may or may not be true). On the SS Daytona the main chronograph hand is steel not the usual white gold. Apparently 18ct gold might bend on the reset swing. It’s possible that the white and yellow rbow pieces also had painted steel chronograph hands and maybe the Everose metal is a bit harder and could tolerate the accelerations better - hence the Everose chronograph hands. I’m guessing |

Seriously, a UK Rolex AD had a 116595 RBOW sitting in the safe unsold for 3 years?
I don't think so ...... The AD would have had to have paid Rolex UK for it. No business sits on an extremely expensive (at cost to them) stock item for 3 years that they can sell 10 times over. And that's before we consider that you've posted pictures of 2 different watches. Just as a point of interest, the OP has used two different image hosts for the picture of the platinum Daytona and the Rainbow Daytona. And the exif data has been completely stripped from both images. Call my cynical but....

I was going to post, and then I realize that this is an 80% troll! Credulous and naive that I am, I was going to take my car to go to Bucherer and my local AD to ask him for a Rainbow... on a misunderstanding... I find it hard to believe notwithstanding the photo which speaks for itself. For example my AD (which is a historic AD in Switzerland (not as much as Bucherer)) has only received one piece for all these years. And it goes without saying that it had been let to a client for several generations... it's a foregone conclusion. Ditto in Lausanne for example where families have been customers for several generations with AD Rolex or Patek for example. So zero chance !

Screen cap, or it can be deleted (or modified) with image processing software. Facebook also strips exif data from all images uploaded.
Even my iphone 14 lets me change the exif data.
