Not sure the economy and purchasing power as we know them today will still be there by then but otherwise that sounds like a wonderful factory.

They don't produce everything in one location, usually the various location have various purpose in the watch production process.

Let's see if this has an impact on production with a small increase!

This October, one more step has been passed to transform the area with mixed activities (=> housing).

This is a clear political signal that it will be more difficult for Rolex to expand in the future.

Bulle is located in the Canton of Fribourg. The authorities are very friendly with specialized industries because they need high revenue employment and have a lot more cheap land than in Geneva.
That is very interesting! I was a bit curious about their choice on location.

I am not a industry specialist. Could it be possible that the new production machines are getting larger and require more m2?

Patek increased its manufacture in m2 and m3, not to increase the quantity but improve the quality (product, people and experience for customers). Could be same same for Rolex. :)

It could also be for Tudor. ;)

A billion chf is some real money. Anyone care to venture a WAG about what total production might be? 2 million watches per year?

New Rolex factory in the works

I've read rumors in the past, but given the sources cited in this article it sounds like Rolex is really moving forward with another factory. It says they haven't gotten final governmental approvals yet, so still at least several years out at best until the new factory could be up and running. How much more capacity would it add? If 20% then not too much difference in availability. But if something like 50% then it would probably be very noticeable.
