Datejust 31mm purchased

This is a bit of a "horse has already bolted" kind of post.
A few months ago I wanted to treat the wife to a nice watch and stumbled into my local Ramsdens store to look at their pre-owned selection. I spotted a very minimalist Datejust 31mm, white face, roman numerals, smooth bezel and Oyster (?) strap.
I dont like the fluted bezels and Jubilee strap!!
Box and papers and I was also shocked to find the green sticker on the caseback, despite the 1992 date.
I tried a bit of a haggle but we were £100 apart so i walked away.
Anyway, fast forward 3 months and there is the same watch on their website, however, its now in Scotland. It was moved there for someone to view it but it was never sold. So, i had it shipped down to my local store and consequently, the manager was in a festive mood and i paid the price i wanted. £5000

I think i should get the watch serviced in the new year as there's no proof of this, but the watch is immaculate and barely worn.
Can anyone share any info regarding this watch? Is it likely to hold its value well, is it a respected model, or was it a flop? Have i paid over the odds? It looks about right, price wise.
I am very impulsive and have jumped in feet first but its a lovely watch and the condition is a credit to the previous owner.

Just out of curiosity how come you didn't just get her a new one for £5750?

£5000 was really my budget and i really didnt think i could buy a new one as AD never seem to stock them?
I own a 14060 no date Submariner, 2 liner, 1999 A serial, which i believe to be more desirable than the newer 14060M models so again, my question would be, would a 1992 Datejust be more desirable and a better investment than the newer watch?

sorry but you didn't make a financially sound decision on the DJ31 you bought. A current DJ31 is much better, No rattly bracelet as a start.

If it needs a service (quite likely) then that will bring the price in line with a brand new one. There's not much of a market for 31mm DateJusts of any age really, so age/vintage isn't an issue. Anyway, I'm sure your wife will love it and never want to sell it, which is all that matters. The Scotland backstory also suggests that it was meant to be.

How about a photo or two?

Just give your wife the watch, enjoy it with her, and forgot about all this mumbo jumbo. You bought a Rolex. Be happy.
