Tudor BB41 Strange Sound When Winding
The Tudor is my backup. Never really worn, however, about once a month I wind just to keep everything moving. The last time I wound everything felt ok. Then I hear a weird "whrrrrrr" I don't know if that helps. Sounded and felt as though something slipped and something else was turning freely if that makes sense. After the noise I wound as I normally would. It felt fine. I set and placed crown up. Running fine. Anyone on here heard of this one before?

How old is the watch? You are the first owner? Perhaps needs to be serviced

I have an Aquastar that does that when the crown is pulled out for winding, but not in exactly the right position. In swear it feels like winding is turning the rotor. I can feel the weight. The watch is only about 6 months old.

Could be the over winding protection kicking in? I’ve not owned a Tudor, so not sure what that might sound like.

I had a non-Rolex/Tudor watch with that feeling before. Just as Unclebuck mentioned, it felt like the self-winding rotor was turning, in which I think was the case. You could feel the whole watch vibrating which probably meant that the rotor was spinning quite fast!
I'm not a watchmaker, but there obviously must be some sort of connection between the crown and the rotor as they both wind the mainspring. For some reason, something got "crossed" and is transferring the power from winding the crown directly to the rotor. Pulling/pushing the crown back in/out again seemed to disengage it correctly and it was working fine afterwards. It sounds like this exact scenario is happening to you as well OP. I would definitely send it in to have it looked at! |
