Get used to this. Veblen goods are catching up with inflation and the secondary market.

Not really, as Rolex has kept the value about the same over many decades.

The problem is central banks keep devaluating their currency (a.k.a. inflation). If currencies were kept stable over the years... though let's admit we're all losing ~30% of currency buying power after only 10 years nowadays. That really stinks!!!

6 days ago is recent and something that “just” happened unless you get an hour by hour penny by penny update from “watchout”!! The Internet has ruined our sense of perspective and what is “new” news.

Sorry, but what kind of question is that?
What does it matter whether or not Rolex increases its list prices if those prices really do not exist for anyone.

I would have to disagree with that. Been buying new Rolex since 1984 and historically their prices have always increased MORE than the inflation rate, more like what the market will bear.
In times past they did try to balance the prices internationally so the relative cost country to country was similar. My first Rolex was a SS Datejust that cost $975 in 1984. That was definitely an over the top luxury price when Timex, Seiko, etc were probably less than $50.
