Why? When even Rolex guys are saying no way it makes you take a deep breath. I have made MANY bad trades over the years and I really don’t want to make another one….that I regret.
I am on the list with one of my AD’s for a 5726 blue and a 5740 but I had been thinking about just going all Nautilus but that seems silly. Also I think if I was trading the COMEX towards a 5740 that would make more sense than for a steel sports chronomdual time. I WOULD trade my 6240 Panda for a 5990 but have not been able to find any takers on that one…. |

The let down wasn’t the result; I was hoping for back story on the Comex, motivations to consider a trade, what was the pull of the 5990 etc. |

So the COMEX has great provenance in that it was originally owned by a prominent Rolex historian. It has been serviced by RSC and is in super mint condition. I have a tendency to shift between Rolex and PP. I have made some super bad trades in the past. I have been swinging back toward Patek recently and I have two Nautiluses and would like one or two more. I really want a 5740 and am on a list for in along with a 5726 blue. I thought of maybe going all in with different Nautiluses. I have loved t\b\eNautilus since my father wore one when I was a kid in the 80’s. My first Patek was a 3700 aj. It’s not a passing fad for me. The issue is neither is the COMEX which is one of my grails. I would just buy if I could but I have many other obligations that require the funds and my wife would shoot me if I went out and spent 500k on toys. So I have to work using why I already have. I think if I could trade the COMEX for a 5740 I would…it’s pm and a perpetual calendar. The 5990 just ain’t enough for me to give up the COMEX even though I really thought about it. I know I wil, gravitate to Rolex again but I do appreciate the rarified air,of the PP and as I said it’s not like I don’t have any as I have a 5712 and 5726.

You already have a 5712? I’d say keep the comex. Personally I like the 5712 better than the 5990 anyway.

Exactly. The Patek is easily available all over the world.
------- ------- OP, if you still insist on doing the trade, you MUST INSIST the Patek has the Tiffany stamped dial as it's only fair a COMEX dial for a Tiffany dial. Am sure an honest Patek Philippe AD would agree.

The Patek is a totally different watch and would be out of my budget. I would probably trade the Comex if I ended up with a Comex by some miracle. However, you would have to be 100 percent sure of no sellers remorse before doing this deal.

I wouldn't. That PP doesn't interest me at all.

Once the Comex is gone, it’s gone..
As said above - the Patek is available everywhere currently. Comex all the way way for me - much more interesting piece. |

If it were not for the introduction of the Patek 5811g, I would say yes. Patek will likely move to the 41mm case accross the Nautilus lineup.
