My Second 114060

Ever repurchased a reference? Never thought I would say this. I have.

A while back I convinced myself that I was a one watch guy and decided to sell my 114060. It was not getting a lot of wrist time. Life would be simpler. No decisions to make about which one to wear. What could go wrong?

My spouse, who is not a watch person, told me in more colorful terms that I was not being smart and would regret it. But I was convinced that I was right, and said goodbye to my Sub C.

In fairly short order, I realized that I had not been very smart and regretted my decision. My spouse, again in more colorful terms, said, I told you so, get another darn watch.

I then began the search for a new watch. Tried on the 124060 and several other watches, both current models and vintage. Got on a waitlist for a 124060 and was recently told that it would be soon.

I liked the 124060 I tried on. Objectively, the watch looks and wears more balanced. But subjectively, I realized that I actually preferred the slightly more narrow band and larger lugs of the 114060.

So, I asked my AD to let me know if he took in any 114060’s. Got an email Tuesday that they had just received a 114060 with a 2018 dated warranty and full kit from a customer who took very good care of their watches.

I replied a with a thank you and a request to run a timegraph. Promptly received a photo of the printout. But alas, realized I had no clue how to read it. Yes, that was embarrassing. But I persevered and posted a request for help in the watch tech section. Which, of course was even more embarrassing because I had to admit that I had never bothered to learn how to read a timegraph.

But as always, my TRF brothers came to the rescue. I learned a lot. Which was more than worth the embarrassment.

Went to my AD today and took a look. Everything checked out. And it was in pristine condition.

I have been in this hobby for several decades. And this is the first time I have repurchased a reference. I must admit that I felt a little silly putting myself through this process, but I am glad to have an 114060 back on my wrist.

Thanks for your help, my friends.

Congrats!

Yes, I have sold and rebought the same reference. A few times. The 14060M and the 16610LV. I would buy the 16610LV again...for the third time, but the current prices are too prohibitive.

Congrats! I have not rebought any Rolex reference. I have only done that with two watches - Omega Seamaster 2531.80 and Tudor BB GMT.

I do wish there was a subforum here where you could put down info about a watch you sold in the past in the hopes of rebuying it. I am tempted to rebuy a 16610, but I wish I could find the exact one I sold.

I did the same thing with my Speedmaster, I get it.
My 114060 would be my one and only if I had to choose just one.

What was the "one watch" left when you initially sold the Sub?

Tudor Black Bay M99230B-0008, with the blue bezel that I love.

Well done. Congratulations

It looks good and I wish you health and happiness in wearing it.

I had a strong feeling you would not be able to resist.

Your wife sounds just like mine.

A backstory which I hope not to repeat. But am pretty sure my wife would call for an intervention if I started down that road again.

Been there done that, you think that is bad I had the 114060 twice, the 124060 once and probably will get one again! My wife thinks I am crazy.

FWIW, I love the maxi case on my 114060 I think the narrower band and broader lugs make for a unique experience and I'll never sell mine. Well done.

Congrats.

I have also sold, regretted, and rebought a 114060.

I do think it is a superior reference to the 124060 simply because of the unreliable 32xx movements.

Congrats! I haven't worn anything else since I got my 114060 and I think I will probably wear it for the remainder of my life. It's everything I want in a watch without a bunch of mumbo jumbo.
