If the seller would pay for the crystal and refinish I'd snatch it up at 4k in a hearbeat.

This is exactly why I wouldn't buy jack sh*t off e-bay and never have.

Ok took it to my AD friend in Philly. The seller offered $500 towards repair and it really isn't in the worst shape. That's the actual watch to the left under my name. I think I'm going to take some of your advice and just wait until service. It's definitely not in mint condition but it's a D series in good condition for $3500.

It really only needs a new bezel, crystal and light buffing. Does anyone know a good place to send it to???

Here is the eBay page if you want to see more detail.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...EOIBSA:US:1123

You can see the chip at the 40 if you look carefully. Also he doesn't have pictures of the side where the helium release is. It's scratched there and the bezel is also very scratched which doesn't reallly show. Again though... It's still in decent condition and can be repaired. I feel goo about it.

Trust me......you got screwed! Get your money back if you can. A "D" isn't worth $4000. in my opinion, you could do alot better. Good luck.

Get your money back. See and handle your watch before purchasing. That way there are no disappointments.

$4k is too much for a D series sea dweller? Actually I got it for 3500 but in the end I'll have paid around 3900 for a completely redone watch. I've seen them as low as $3750 but for Something from the late 90's.

I still have time to return it so I'll contact some of the sellers on here and see what they can do.

Just save a bit more and buy a new one. I went through hell getting my sub, wrong bracelet/clasp etc. Never again. Only a few people on here that I know personally I would buy from. There is still that nagging question if its totally legit. I always have that feeling until I drop it off at Rolex NY. Only new for me here on out. I'm starting to dig the new YG Sub. The blue is growing on me.

I would recommend to return it and get your money back as the watch is seriously misrepresented

Icon15 Shipping back?

I'd be careful if you are to return. You might end up with another delay or bad experience. I say this because if the guy listed a watch, even for a friend, and had NO IDEA what shape it was in, and it passed as near mint or mint, then it's not a person I would lend credence to.

Hope it works out in your favor. The model is a nice watch.

Cheers,

I think that your follow-up post says it all..

The watch is not in as bad condition as you first thought, and 3500 bucks is an excellent price for a D series SD...

If you choose to have it serviced, then the watch will be "like new" for a fraction of what you could get a similar SD for...

The watch was misrepresented, advise the seller and return it. I hope you paid via Paypal also, for your protection.

Yeah too much. My AD had a nice SD last year, 2000 year production, for 3500.00 plus tax. The watch was almost as nice as my new one. It had the box and papers. I would look for a better deal. I have seen new ones for 5kish plus tax or shipping. I would return it in a minute. Ron
