In a collection, even a collection of two watches, the 126710 and 16710 are different enough to coexist.
If only one, the 16710 is the one for me for the reasons others have stated — vintage aesthetic, slimmer lugs and thinner case, nicer aluminum colors, light and comfortable bracelet, extreme versatility with the bezels and bracelets, etc. |

My personal points of view comparing the 5 to 6 digit references
16710B wins are Bezel colors and font options Bezel interchangeably allowing for 5 minute swaps Rock solid movement Bracelet durability and comfort Non-polished center links on the oyster bracelet Dial markings and proportions more pleasing to my eye BLRO wins are Bracelet adjustability 70 hours run time Accuracy (some have reported concerns regarding service intervals) The oyster SEL bracelet is comfortable and durable, full stop. If you wear it a little loose even in a warm climate, on the fly adjustments aren’t really a thing I find to be necessary. Nice to have, sure; only reason to buy that watch, no way! For me I rotate watches when the mood or occasion moves me. The 16710 gets 90% of the drive time. In my mind it properly blends into almost any situation seamlessly. My second go to watch is a 1972 Bulova Accutron Spaceview cushion case tuning fork watch. That thing is sweet and so much more accurate than any of my 6 digit references. All the other Rollies tend to hold down the fort back home most of the time LOL. I hope this adds a few perspectives to the great debate! |

I own both versions. I have all three bezels for my 16710: coke, Pepsi and black for my and I bought the jubilee to go along with the oyster bracelet. 6 versions in one watch is quite the variety. I am saving it for my son. I feel like the 5 digits are more rugged for everyday wear but I love the new clasp, case and the ceramic bezel more of the newer version. The color of the bezel of the new version is not ideal but still works.

Have always been a Pepsi fan, when the 6 digit was announced I was determined to get one. Have a great relationship with my AD, got one in ‘20. Ended up selling it back to him a few months ago. Bought a Cermit in ‘21 and wore it 2x the the Pepsi.
Bottom line like others is the bezel colors, particularly the navy blue, were very underwhelming to me. Blue from Batman in a Pepsi I’d have kept my whole life. It just didn’t speak to me. On the other hand I was underwhelmed with the Cermit color in pictures but in real life just flat out love it. You really have to try something to know, pictures or just “must have” vibe sight unseen really isn’t enough. |

Of course they can coexist. Their size, shape, caliber, colors, and wearing experience are completely different. They are merely "similar" models effectively. I have a 2005 Kermit sub and a modern ceramic sub. Almost like not even the same watch. Each brings something different to the table when I strap them on.

They're such different watches...I think they absolutely could co-exist in a collection.

5 digit 16570 is amazing. The color of the aluminum bezel and size of the watch on wrist is flawless. A timeless classic.
As many owners of the new model have commented the 126710 is much more blingy and more of a statement watch. For my money I vastly prefer the BLNR on the new model as the blue on the bezel is just amazing! I would not wear a BLNR every day - more of a special occasion watch.

Hi OP,
I sold my 16710 to make way for my 126710BLRO during the "peak" although, I got excellent money for my 16710 it was a regret a few months on... I really think the 5 digit GMT is the best way forward simply because you can have 6 watches in 1. It's just so classy. Although I love my 126710 the 16710 in my opinion is the winner. The 16700 doesn't get any love? It's the last GMT Master, the case is slimmer than the 16710, the movement is unique to this reference, and has the quick set date function, except that the GMT hand is not independent. 4/5 series rule.

I still lust for a ceramic Pepsi on jubilee. I'd also love to own a five-digit GMT, just like the watch worn in Magnum PI. Both those references would be a fun nod to the past with some nostalgia and have a modern interpretation.

Agreed; 16700 LN is a great looking piece. I have seen them with coke bezel (not factory) and they look very nice. I prefer the LN bezel even though some people say 'nice Sub!'
