Need advice on getting my 1999 Submariner serviced
The watch is mint and keeps great time. But has never been serviced in 10 years. AD quoted me 550 for standard service. Mj watch service quoted me 325 but are not a AD but seem to know there Rolex. What do you think?

Personally I would stick to a "RSC".
Good luck |

It's up to you..
Many fine watchmakers can handle a Rolex and do an admirable job.. I wouldn't hesitate for an instant if I knew that an independent watchmaker was outstanding in his field. However, much of the time, at a non-Rolex contracted shop, the watch is simply cleaned, re-oiled, timed, and the case refinished...it looks and runs great.. But, at Rolex, many of the parts that they consider expendible, such as pallet jewels, mainsprings, main wheel pivots, rotor axles, etc, are inspected for tolerance and replaced for their charge. And they have the machines and techinques that gave the watch it's original finish for their re-furbishment of the case and bracelet... You do get a bit more for the extra money you spend at a Rolex Service Center.

Is there a specific RSC that people here prefer to send their watch to?
I have an F serial sub. Is it time to get it serviced? Approximately what would it cost to get it serviced? |

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the majority here and say go with RSC. My two main gripes with RSC is that they are ridiculously overpriced and that they hijack any parts that they decide to replace. Plus you really have no say in what work they do - I had them service my GMT and expressly told my AD I did not want them to polish the case or bracelet (I like the wabi look). It came back totally poished, $325 over their quote AND had lint under the crystal.
For most people, RSC is probably the way to go. I think I'm done with them.
