Yachtmaster 42 in full brushed titanium…….Interesting advantages.

This is an interesting watch on many levels. First being all brushed titanium meaning no glare on any surfaces including the side of the case, clasp or bracelet links give it a no glare tactical look. It’s going to be the easiest watch Rolex makes in hiding any marks or hairline scratches and a green scotchbrite pad will erase the marks you do get. As a daily it will be incredible with flatter case back and light weight. It’s also hypoallergenic being in titanium so those with carbon issues with 904l can wear it. It’s also non magnetic.
The only con is the lack of glidelock which would have taken this watch to a new level of versatility.

Too big, no glide lock, it’s probably the product of internal fighting at Rolex.

Don’t forget that anything you see is simply what executives have short selected from a few PPTX slides.

Re: hypoallergenicity, do you know if the actual caseback is titanium too? I understand that all-titanium screw/thread setups are problematic, and that's why the Pelagos (for example) has a stainless steel screw-on caseback.

Looks fine, but probably too light for my liking and I like a little bling on my watch. It is like a more boring sub IMO.

Grade 5 titanium has high tensile strength. The whole watch can be titanium.

Scratches will oxidize over time and be less apparent than on SS too.

Did Rolex indicated what grade of titanium they are using? Grade 2, 5 or some other alloy that isn't commonly used in watches?

I'm going down for one. I think it looks good in the real world videos I'm seeing online.

I much prefer easy link than glide lock and the fact it comes with a shorter clasp meaning more comfort.

Would have been perfect as a no date a la Ben Ainslee but you can't have it all.

I would have preferred if this model was the 40. The 42 is too big in my opinion.

We have had a few here that had an allergic reaction with the increase nickel in 904L steel. Platinum was the only other choice for super sensitive skin issues.

Well as a SkyD and 570 owner I love that its 42. I do have a 126610 and 124060 so it may be just another black diver BUT its on the list ( )I texted my S A this morning.

I want one. Question is will I get the call. Who knows but you dont get what you dont ask for. $14,050 I can live with.

Sorry, it simply looks like a titaniun Sub. For that price, no thanks.

I personally don't like the feel of a titanium watch, but this is going to be huge.

Don't you mean nickel?

Human being's are 18.5% carbon. Having a carbon allergy would most likely be terminal.

I must say I really like this, the more I see it the more that becomes apparent. Shame I don’t like the lack of weight titanium brings, but I think this will be very popular.

This is a very odd watch….. how does it make sense to make what’s supposed to be the dressier/more gentlemanly sub out of brushed titanium???? Should they make the movement out of playdoh?

It will probably "wear small", kind of like the OG Pelagos. Very similar watch except without the HEV valve.

And one could buy three Pelagii for the price of one YM. Worth it?

I like the use of titanium, but I wish they would have made it look a bit more like a Yacht-master than a Sub. Maybe a non-black dial such as slate.

Honestly my favorite watches are my two citizen titanium watches. I love the light weight and prefer them to stainless. Plus they hold up far better than stainless steel. I really want this watch but I’m sure my AD won’t consider me as I’ve only bought one watch from them.

But I’ll go in and ask. Worst case scenario is they don’t call me.

Rolex seemingly asked themselves, "How can we create something for the under-the-radar buyers? A watch so dull no one will even know it's a Rolex? But price it like a PM piece to ensure success."

A video. They struggle to find an angle with some reflection

Is there anyone, who have a clue why Rolex calls this this baby Submariner as a Yachtmaster?
