Rubber strap daily wear

I've become particularly interested in replacing my batman with a ROO as a daily wearer. Thing is I've never owned a rubber strap timepiece...

For all the ROO wearers out there, and particularly owners of the new 43mm 26420XX range, how does the rubber strap feel in terms of security? Do you feel like it has too much give if someone pulled heavily on it, and do you think it could inevitably flake apart given enough stretch/twisting or show serious signs of wear?

Really curious how you all feel about the rubber strap ROOs as a general wearer, any disadvantages/concerns feel free to list them here too!

I’ve worn Rolex’s on oyster and jubilee bracelets for many years. Recently, I’ve been bit hard by the AP bug and have been wearing a couple of ROO’s on a rubber strap. Here is what I can share; the AP rubber straps are made of a very high quality rubber, are very soft and comfortable, highly pliable and very secure on the wrist. I wouldn’t be concerned if I were in your shoes.

If you’re looking at a ROO in the 26420 iteration, I think you will find the quick change strap system to be excellent. Super easy to release the straps and click the new one into the case, removing and replacing the buckle is a breeze also. If there were any downside in my opinion, it would be the cost of replacement/additional colors of the quick release straps. But I’m a firm believer in that you get what you pay for. After having a watch that uses this system, I have no problem paying that much for a strap that is of this caliber.

Sorry for my rant. Hopefully this helps in your decision. And finally, a couple of pics of my 26420 to enable you! I promise that you won’t regret making the switch.

I think this might be my single biggest concern, the idea that too much pressure on the case while wearing could cause the 2 buttons to unlock. Does this feel like a legitimate possibility?

I don’t think that is a legitimate possibility. You’d literally have to depress both quick release buttons at the same time to get them to release from the strap. It takes quite a bit of finger pressure to do so, I doubt a wrist would be able to push in at both of the specific buttons simultaneously.

Also, with where the buttons are located, they are way up by the case and too high off the wrist for this to be an issue. See my very terrible example below:

Ah that really helps make things clear. Seems the buttons are hidden nicely between the based on the case and the rubber strap as it curves in

Absolutely not. It is super secure. Game changing strap change system by none other than the masters from Le Brassus

Try the deployant first. The deployant isnt as comfortable as the tang. And its close to 2K for steel for the clasp, and the buckle isnt beveled as nicely as the tang.

The rubber is amazingly high quality, wont tear or flake, and VERY comfortable.

If they don't release a reboot of the ghost this year, I wonder how the black dial SS would look with white and red straps?

I would prefer a Ti piece and something that looks good with orange, light blue and yellow as well as black, red and white....but sometimes, you get what you get.

I've had zero issues with the AP rubber straps. I have one that is currently 8 years old and still no issues. They are very secure and very durable.

The rubber straps are much more comfortable than I anticipated but I still opted for leather for my 26420, it is fantastic
