The solar beat was such a great compromise between a classic watch at a great price that did something slightly different than quartz.

For those still interested in the tank and on the fence about quartz I will say this: the quartz used is a high level and not on par with a typical low cost watch. Further, it’s the same quartz they use on their 10k dollar Louis Cartier tanks of the present. I understand not doing it though.

Here’s the regular tank must large on my roughly 6 1/4 inch wrist. Nice piece but the feel on the wrist wasn’t great because the case has 0 curve to it. Passed and went with the santos, which predates the tank and can have a black strap added.

Reading these posts almost makes me wanna pick one up on a whim, the price really is excellent to be fair. In comparison the RRP is even lower than my frederique constant world time which I picked up a month ago which I consider to be the best bargain in todays watch market for this price bracket.

I kinda sidle with your view though, it somehow didn't sing to me when I tried it on and I've tried on many Cartier watches. Sad to say but it was pretty underwhelming

Arrived. Love it. Very subtle takes a day of wearing it to sink in.

I was in a Cartier boutique in the US today and they had a small one and said I could get one in a couple of days if I ordered the large. I’m holding out for Watches and Wonders to see what’s new. I’d rather have it in Gold than steel.

Are you sure it's the solarbeat version?
I'm surprised

Someone sent me a copy of an email reply they received from Cartier they other day, stating that the Tank Solarbeat had been "Retired." So if people want one, they should act now while their may still be a few remaining at ADs or boutiques.

that was fast, must have been production or maintenance issues...I cant imagine them sinking a bunch of R&D into the solarbeat tech for an intentional limited run.

On the French Cartier website, you still need to contact Cartier (or place an order by phone) and not add to the bag which is consistent with these being hard to source.

Same message on the Dutch Cartier website - so I contacted them.
What I got back confirms that the Solarbeat is no longer available and if your interested in the same style quartz Tank, they can offer the WSTA0041.

So no more SolarBeat.

Note below is in Dutch but the sentence "het Tank Must fotovoltaïsch SolarBeat uurwerk niet meer beschikbaar is" is that the Tank Must SolarBeat movement is no longer available.

I guess I was l was lucky. Several months I was browsing C24, and ran across a dealer in pre-owned watches. They advertised a new unworn large SolarBeat with complete documentation. I immediately placed an order and received the watch in a couple of days. In the time I‘be owned the piece it has performed flawlessly. As to charging,I place it on a window ledge facing the sun for 2-3 hours. After that I don’t worry about charging as it takes a charge from indoor or outdoor lighting. I registered it with Cartier care and it’s covered through 2030. I’ve never had it “run down”.
