Lost for words…

So I am a huge meteorite dial fan - as those who know me from here will know.

I have the GMT and the day date 40 in meteorite dials.

I requested the meteorite Daytona from AD, on the day of release. I specifically wanted white gold as my other two of course are white gold and have waited patiently for this watch, untill it was discontinued last week at my dismay - it’s way too expensive for me to pay the market price on this.

So I rung my guy on the day of the Rolex’s launches, and expressed my dismay and was there anything he could do - although it was safe to say i had pretty much given up at this point. I asked to be put on the list for the new platinum Daytona instead - I love the new open caseback.

Fast forward to today - I get a call, he asks me if I’m sitting down. I thought maybe he was going to give me the first green sky dweller as I expressed interest in this watch.

He tells me - he’s spoke to Rolex Geneva and said he has a client who’s really disappointed about this watch they’ve told him they’ll see what they can do.

Guess what? He has a meteorite Daytona coming for me next week! I’m astonished!

Now I will say I did want the full bracelet version first and foremost was my request - this is the white gold oyster flex version. Of course I took it and it will give variety amongst my others. I’m absolutely over the moon!

Collecting in a few days time and will finally finally complete my meteorite trio!!

I honestly never thought I would get to this watch I’m overjoyed to add it to my collection :)

Big congrats! I expressed my same disappointment as I had my wife's wedding ring interlaced with metorite and my wedding band also has the same metorite. I was really excited to have a watch to pair and was super upset to hear it was discontinued. I have not received the same call you did as of yet, so that is really awesome!

A special call to Geneva for a special customer is a nice story but its more likely this came from central stock, or another store.

Congrats!

I expressed my disappointment to my AD and all they did was laugh at me.

That is pretty amazing that your AD spoke to Geneva for you...remarkable.

Great looking watch, congrats

And after you moaning about your AD on that other thread

PS - you need to get some mould and mildew remover on that deck

I know right, humble pie! It does feel so impossible to get any Rolex at times especially here in the UK. Makes it a little more sweet. He’s really come through for me he’s aware of my collection and this really was the number 1 watch needed/desired for my collection. Cannot thank him enough especially after it being discontinued last week!

Edit — this is an old photo the decking was cleaned shortly after and repainted ha.

Wow! That's what I call a good AD experience, right there!

Huge congrats on your Daytona to complete the outer space trio.

I'm glad you brought it up....I was hesitant

I was thinking "maybe pass on the watch and paint your deck..."

I'm kidding. Congrats! Looking forward to the incoming and the photos on a freshly painted deck.

Look guys I don’t know the ins and outs of where exactly this watch has come from and to be honest I couldn’t really care. He was at watches and wonders so maybe spoke to somewhere there I honestly don’t know. It’s not a pre owned watch it’s a new watch from an authorised dealer. All I know is he spoke to someone at Rolex and they made it happen :)

Congratulations Jay!! This is a fantastic story. It's a beautiful piece, enjoy it and wear it in the best of health.

You have a wonderful AD. The only way my AD would do this would be if they could extort full market value out of their customer.

And thats all that matters!!! Congrats brother

Awesome to hear some rare good news from an A D.

Very very very very very very very very happy for you

Can you ask him about a 116505 for me Gotta text for a silver dial 519 a few weeks ago. Passed. Gotta be full PM at least if not RG. Oh well.

I actually think the WG OF version is the best looking with Meteorite dial. That dial combo with hints of black, with black bezel, and OF strap is a stunner. All other gold combo's not as awesome. Just something about the look of your future incoming is a notch higher on looks. Post some pics for us mere mortals when you get this beast

That's great news, especially as you say the UK market is difficult.

I had the same plan should this have happened to the 36mm Explorer lol.

Thankyou Anthony, I appreciate your genuine thanks!

As you know this was the only one I was really really after.

I’m really looking forward to getting it on just in time for summer too.

I’m happy to ask for you mate but I’ve never had much luck myself untill this ! :)

Are you specifically after the 11 now that it’s been discontinued? No interest in the newer version?

I think you need a white gold watch my friend :)

I wasnt serious my friend on the ask. Well maybe No in all seriousness after this hell of an incoming your favor meter might be on empty.

As to what series? If a 12 the only dial I like is the Sundust or dusk. Whatever the hell you call it. Whereas with the 11 theres a handfull I like. And yeah I agree I probably could see myself with a WG model but just not OF when I already have my 515. I couldnt see myself owning 2 on OF without owning any PM Daytonas on bracelet.

Don’t get me wrong I hated passing on the 116519 but I just wasn’t feeling it. And it’s even easier when you already have your favorite OF model.

Well not counting the Meteorite dials.

Passed model

One of my daily’s

No contest IMO. Again not counting the Meteorites
