Looking to buy my first VC a 1942 Triple Calendar
As per the title I’m looking to buy my first Vacheron Constantin and am besotted by the 1942 Triple Calendar, I’m quite a big guy with a 7.5 inch flat wrist and I’m slightly worried the 40mm will get lost on my wrist having only worn 44-47mm for the last 8 years.
One shot but does anyone own a 1942 that could give me sone wrist shots as trying in person just isn’t an option for me right now. Cheers |

Looking to buy my first VC a 1942 Triple Calendar
7.25" wrist. Wears big due to light color and narrow bezel. Comparison

Wow, ask and you shall receive, thank you kindly sir. In the pics it looks like that’s in a boutique? How did you find it? Quality and fit and finish wise, really anything you can say good or bad would help. Have to say it looks lovely in the pic.

No problem. It's a great looking watch and movement. Geneve seal is a strong quality assurance. It is a VERY detailed and gorgeous watch. The champagne dial is dynamic. The ink print is crisp and flawless and the blued hands twinkle nicely at certain angles. Are you looking to build a relationship with an AD? If not they come up from time to time for a good price.

It’s not really my ‘thing’ generally, a pretty more delicate watch like this but I love VC as a brand and having never owned one this one is just speaking to me, I’ve coverted the Breguet Marine for a long time due to the kind of deco style but this I feel does it better and with the calendar complication is kind of the perfect combo I feel.
I did wonder if the Champagne dial is as bold in real life but seems so from your comments, and although I’m usually adverse to the Arabic numbers on a watch the daintiness of them just seems to look right. The seal of Geneve does mean a lot to me as the movement is as important to the case for me and I love a handwind movement… I’m talking myself into this more and more arnt I… I’m not too fussed about an AD, or future relationships with them if I’m honest, all about best price I can get if I’m honest, I have a new one tracked down and also a used model in very good condition so it’s just about deciding which way to go and also actually pulling the trigger! |

In photos the dial seems salmon. In real life it seems more sunbrushed to me. Very nice dial. Not much of anything like a datejust for example.

Beautiful watch and great points regarding how the color affects the perception of size. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have an 8” wrist and really loved mine. Would call the dial more champagne than salmon, but it’s beautiful either way. Parted with mine because I couldn’t read the month and day — just too small for my not so old eyes, but it’s a lovely watch.

Nice to see an owner of the watch on the thread, well Ex owner anyways. The dial seems to be a country cream kind of colour from the pics, but it’s always hard looking on screens rather than in person. Can I ask were you happy with the watch generally? How was the fit and finish in your eyes? Was winding and adjusting the date etc satisfying, how was the time keeping? Sorry for all the questions I’m just very much on the edge of pulling the trigger and I very very rarely do without seeing the watch in real life first but that’s just not an option for me right now. I’m just looking for a step up from my previous watches in fit and finish, kind of specialness of that makes sense.

The fit and finish were great -- my first Geneva Seal -- but I honestly don't recall the winding/adjustment, and I don't want to mislead you. Time keeping was good, if not COSC level, but this is not a piece you're buying for ultra-precision. My only real criticism is that all three hands are of similar size, making it somewhat difficult to tell the time at a glance.
