Just curious if most TRF members use an instant messaging program and which one? AIM? MSN? Yahoo?

I am on a Mac so I use Adium. It allows me to have my Gmail Talk, AIM, Skype, Facebook, and other chat programs all in one application.

Only use GTalk. Works anywhere I can access my emal and there's an app for it on my blackberry.

SKYPE?? I am confused! I thought skype was a way of making cheap phone calls by using the internet (i.e. voice over IP)?

Not cheap, Allan.............try FREE!!

It's a great (and free) way of communicating with friends all over the world. All you need is a headset with an attached mike and you're in business.

Misunderstanding. Skype provides text-based chat as well as voice to voice communication. Their voice to voice includes computer to computer (Free), computer to phone (not free) and phone to computer (not free).

Privately: none. I dislike it. At work I occasionally use the messenger that come with Lotus Notes.

I think AIM still leads, but more and more people are using multiple programs (MSN, Skype, GTalk, etc.).

I would love to chat at some time JJ. Although I have to admit, it'll be a few weeks before I'll be settled back in. I defend my dissertation tomorrow, am going to a wedding from Thursday through Sunday and move to Chattanooga on Monday!
