I had a black dial fluted, DJII when they first came out. The black dial was not glossy, it was in between matt and satin.

Congrats on the DJ2. I’m a huge fan and now have 4 of them. Still looking to add another.

I see it as the modern day ‘Wideboy’ with the baton dial.

Interesting. I only realized now after seeing the pics the earlier ones are indeed not true gloss black nor true matte. Perhaps like you mentioned it may have been the earlier releases closer to 2009? I’ve seen them with gloss shortly thereafter…of course with Rolex, the lack of AF sometimes makes even a gloss dial appear greyish due to all of the reflections
