Horopedia Foundation Is Born

This just in:

We’re proud to announce that HOROPEDIA FOUNDATION is finally here.

Six months after launching our project, the HOROPEDIA Foundation was officially established on the 1st of February and it is now registered in the Commercial Register of the State of Geneva.

The Foundation is non-profit and independent. It will support the steady and uninterrupted work of the HOROPEDIA website, and help spread the knowledge and highlight the know-how of the #watchmaking crafts including technical and artistic skills accumulated over the years. It is committed to the long-term success and visibility of watchmaking art.

The Executive Board is composed of Philippe Dufour (President), Dr Helmut Crott., André Colard, and Marc Andre Deschoux as Executive Director. The Board will oversee all the decisions to achieve the aims of the Foundation and will have general responsibility for the affairs of the Foundation.

With the growth of the community and visual content on the HOROPEDIA website, the future engagement of the Foundation will also include awarding scholarships to give young students and/or individuals pursuing continuing education the opportunity to study or continue their studies at specialized watchmaking schools.

Thx for joining Booth9999.

G-man, oh my, i'm not involved (yet am a 'Circle of Friends' within the AHCI, and you can be too at https://www.ahci.ch/circle-of-friends/ ). Am simply happy to help promote horology in its' many forms, and this new ORG looks to be well worth supporting too imho. There is so much information that can be entered into Horopedia from historic to modern... and stuff lottsa goodies none of us have really seen before.

The more support we / the industry give to it / us, the better for everyone for today, to our grandchildren... and theirs.

This is fantastic, thanks for sharing. I'm happy to see what's being done here or will be, rather.

Today's Update From Horopedia

HOROPEDIA Foundation
The first videos showcasing artisanal and semi-artisanal production methods of different watch components and tools are now available on horopedia.org.

True to our mission of preserving watchmaking art for future generations, the HOROPEDIA Foundation published its first educational videos:

1. Angling and bevelling techniques
https://horopedia.org/beveling/

2. Watchmaking tweezers:
https://horopedia.org/tweezers/

3. Escape-wheel
https://horopedia.org/escape-wheel/

4. Geneva Watchmaking School:
https://horopedia.org/geneva-watchmaking-school/

Horopedia aims to have a holistic approach to the educational content published on its website. The platform will be covering different production methods from artisanal, semi-artisanal, and #industrial to high-end, and give in-depth explanations of the processes and their historical background. A variety of themes and aspects of the #watchmaking culture will allow viewers to easily select topics of their interest.

The first videos serve as a preview of the full spectrum of terms and techniques that will gradually appear on the website. With further development of the project, new films on other watchmaking topics will be released to illustrate different aspects of the colorful tapestry of the horological multiverse.

All content is entirely created by Horopedia and available in French, English, and German.
