Update: I contacted the AD via their website and in less than 24-hours they telephoned me, saying they’d be happy to send the watch in for service. I have another week in Africa, and will either return the watch to the AD I purchased it from, or wait until I get to my home area where there also is an AD.

Following advice I received here, I manually advanced the date 30+ times but the problem persists; however, the watch did advance correctly once, but then the next night it skipped forward again.

I looked at Rolex for over twenty-years before deciding to purchase this watch, that cost more than the first new car I bought. I bought it to replace a Breitling SuperOcean I wore for over ten-years with a problem. Very disappointing, indeed.

To be honest, these things can happen which is why you have warranty. The important thing is the after sales service. If they sort out the issue in professional manner then it should be fine.

Once an IWC I bought had to be sent for warranty repair few days after I purchased it. Very good service from both AD and IWC and it was sorted efficiently.
