Pelagos 39 lume
My Pelagos 39 is great but the hands have very weak lume. I've compared it to my omega speedmaster and my Tudor gmt and it's obvious the hands do not pick up light as well. The markers and bezel are fine, it's just the hands.
I tired to photograph it but it shows much more balance than is actually visible to the eye. Is this something Tudor would fix under warranty? |

I’m seeing mixed reports. My hands will charge but when walking in from outdoors or a bright room to a dark room, I can’t really read the time well - unlike pretty much any other watch I have. I’ve had amazing experiences with Omega service but haven’t had to go to Tudor yet.
I also bought this watch 2nd hand and it’s still under warranty so I’m curious how the boutiques will handle it. |

I have one with a 2023 card and the hands do seem to be a tad weak. It doesn't really bother me as I can still see it late into the evening/early morning, but I did notice that as well.

I just got one. I read these reports too. Today was the 1st day out in the sun with it. When got to a darker place (tunnel while driving) the watch lit up like crazy….except the hands. They were lit up but very much weaker than everything else, including the bezel. Oh well. Still love the watch

Seems to be a common issue on the Pelagos 39's. You can read about it on Hodinkee's "Week on the Wrist":
"Is It Perfect? Close, but no. There are a few considerations to keep in mind. First is the aforementioned 21mm lugs, which might be a big deal for some. Second is the lume, which was lacking in brightness for the hands when compared to the bezel and markers. This was the case on both of the two examples I've had the chance to photograph for a lume shot. It's not that the lume isn't bright, it's that the hands are not as bright as the rest of the treatment. While I found this to be most noticeable when shooting a lume shot, in night-to-night use, the lume is functional and long-lasting. Hopefully, this is something Tudor rectifies in the future." https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/th...ith-confidence

The loom plots are ceramic and thick. Don’t know what the hands material is but I would think it would not be as bright as the plots.

* EDIT * I noticed a similar variance with the FXD. It's not as pronounced and I'm guessing it's due to the fact that the FXD markers are "framed" whereas the P39 are not... The video published by this member shows this quite well: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=901309 *an example where the hands are much brighter than the markers. But if you're going to have a mismatch, it's better to have brighter hands... ...we can tell time without seeing markers...
