Right box for Explorer 114270?
I purchased a Rolex Explorer 114270. It is "D-series (D41......) so it must be from 2005 or 2006. I would like to buy the orginal box for the watch. I read that Rolex changed the box in those years (2005?). So do we know what would be the right box for this watch: the older green leather & wooden box or newer plastic (?) box?

Not sure why you need it, but check eBay. Put 2005 Rolex box in search function, and you will find one. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Yep, I get that, but the problem is that Rolex made two kind of boxes in 2005 or did they start to use the new box immediately from the beginning of 2005?
Is it even possible to know which kind of box my Explorer was orginally sold? |

What does it matter? Only a true expert could answer that question, and maybe not. It’s a period correct box. It’s even possible that the watch was presented in different boxes, if there were 2 different ones that year. As I understand how this works, the watches are shipped to the ADs in small plastic protective containers, properly stickered, and presumably, with their appropriate serial number cards. The boxes, and any other paraphernalia are shipped separately. The SAs put them in the boxes, along with any extra tags, warranty cards, etc., and receipt, at time of sale. If you want this, in order to resell it, it won’t make a difference, unless you have the original cards, also. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Because I would like to buy the exactly same kind of box that this watch was orginally sold, if it is possible. Not for reselling the watch, just for my joy.

With all the respects, I just want to know is it possible to find out or what kind of box this Explorer was orginally sold with in 2005. If you don't have the answer, maybe someone else has...or not. Let's see. |

Thanks for the answer and photo! Yes, in 2004 the box was still this cool wooden version. It seems like in 2005 Explorers were sold with both boxes but I've seen lots of the new ones so I guess it is ok to purchace that one for my Explorer also.
