Explorer 40 on Leather Strap

I've always preferred my watches on leather straps so got one commissioned from Aaron at Combat Straps. This is shell cordovan, with a calfskin underside, with saddle stitching, and curved ends. In person the shell cordovan is a beautifully deep and inky black. It's quite dressed up the watch.

The clasp is a butterfly deployant type, from Fluco, made in Germany, and it is built like a tank.

That looks great. Aaron does nice work. I'm going to move on to the next page now because if I look at those pics again I may just have to pick one up for my Exp 1.

Not usually a fan of taking it off the bracelet but that works an absolute treat!

Hard pass. Especially on the curved ends of the strap.

I'm always a bracelet guy, but curiosity got the better of me so I did something similar, put my Exp I on a 2 piece nylon.
Loved the look and immediately ordered straps for the Exp 2.

I tried black, grey, black with red, nylon, leather and somehow ended up liking a grey suede the best, the one I LEAST expected to work

The Sub is staying on the bracelet!!! That one I know!!
I've committed enough heresy as it is!

Aaron does great work. I’ve gifted three straps to my dad for his Apple Watch, purchased two for myself, and received one of his watch rolls as a gift. It looks like he did a fantastic job on the strap for your Explorer, very sharp.

Fair reasoning. That being said I deliberately chose shell cordovan since it is one of the toughest leathers (some say the best leather, period) so it does complement the Explorer theme. I intend to wear it every day - but not when showering, lol.

Definitely sounds cool to try and give it a go! It’s the water thing that’s limiting. I swam a bunch in the ocean with my panerai, on the OEM leather strap, and it just trashed it.

Looks great. You could consider it a modern dress watch with that strap!

That's always been my question with leather/fabric straps, how do you deal with sweat and dirt in general? Why I prefer steel bracelets.

I like straps. That strap doesn’t work for me. Looks cheap for some reason. Maybe if it had dark gray stitching.

That's sharp. Great job! I bet it would look great with a croc strap too.

Makes that black dial look even more black! Shell cordovan is the best!
