Wow, could this be the turning point now for watches like the DJ to return to cases?

Palm dial in the window too is pretty interesting to see… got mine a few months ago after a short wait, albeit on Jubilee. Thanks for the photo report

I think we are getting close to turning the corner
I wouldn't be surprised if watch fatigue is starting to set in amongst the masses and the bag holders (grey / individuals that bought at massive premiums for investments) will start trying to unwind more rapidly. No crazy market last forever on any luxury good, especially one that at the end of the day is still a mass produced item, albeit a very fine one that does retain decent value. |

Nice! It does seem like things are starting to shift, finally.
I welcome a return to watches available in cases and would love to see that happen across the line. I doubt we'll see Daytonas, BLROs, or Sub LVs in the case anytime soon....if ever...but maybe we can get back to where a plain old black Sub or Explorer or BLNR is regularly available for anyone to purchase. |

Not surprising that a Bluesy is for sale, given you'd lose about 15-20% out the door now that the peak insanity has subsided....
Maybe the tide is turning a bit |

Really? I'd agree on the latter photo (Oyster/fluted/black diamond dial), but what's wrong with the Oyster/silver/smooth? Though not a "hot" configuration, that seems like a very regular Rolex that a very regular guy would go in and make a very regular purchase of. In terms of RRP, that configuration is the most accessible 40mm+ model with a date there is.

How do you know they're for sale? My local ADs have had watches in the window throughout the 'drought' as well, yet they're not available.

AD in Tampa has had a few DJ 41s for sale in window along with many gold watches. I know folks have started turning some down but also giving a chance for walk ins.

Three watches for sale is hardly anywhere near back to normal. I just received a call from a jewelry store SA, (not a Rolex AD), who said his boss had found me a 36 mm black dial DJ, for just $11,500. I told him thank you, but I’ll wait for my AD to get one for me…..

For someone ("regular") it could well be their dream Rolex. For anyone that really knows about the DJ 41 model it's just a very mundane model in that configuration IMO... |

I'm not sure exactly what that means - "anyone that really knows about the DJ 41" - is there some kind of special, hidden, double-secret configuration only a few know about? Most watch purchases are about personal taste. Getting snapped up "in seconds" is often about a model being of sufficient interest to a greater number of people who happen upon it.

If you would that's totally fine and your own choice. I personally wouldn't for reasons stated. It would be boring if we both agreed, yes? |

Because DJ41 is too big for me and I much prefer 36. However, were I to buy a DJ36, that's the exact configuration I'd go for (admittedly, would be a coin-flip between Oyster and Jubilee, but silver baton dial and domed bezel for sure). |

Selfridges and Covent Garden Bucherer have dozens and dozens of watches in the back, including Olive dial Day-date 40 (flippers won't touch this one now as it's a loss for them).
These watches have been going straight down for the past 18 months and dealers are not paying any or very little premium for 95% of references! |
