Not a YG guy by any means but this is such a classic piece. Someone is going to be very happy to stumble upon that being for sale.

Not the Everose Skydweller.

Friend just sold his ‘22 Chocolate dial all Everose Skydweller for £44,000 to a Grey dealer he knows in North London/Hertfordshire and they have a buyer at £47,750

I find it sad that people are no longer buying a Rolex watch because they like the watch, but instead are turning them down because they can't make a profit by selling to the secondary market. On the other hand if this trend continues it is only good news if more watches become available for buyers who actually want to buy from an AD.

True, I think it is good news.
But I guess a lot of people are thinking about their mortgages going from 1% to 6% etc in the coming years and just a bit more hesitant at dropping £30-40k on a watch with that uncertainty.

Genuine end users always have and always will buy watches that they like - the issue is the speculators who only liked the watches because they could make money on them.

The less popular models have always sat unsold or been discounted so hopefully just the start of normality returning as the speculators disappear. All we are seeing now is which watches the genuine end users don’t like!

I think that’s about the size of it.

I’m a collector and buy only what I want. I don’t really care what it’s worth until I maybe juggle my collection and by then if I’m a bit down/up it’s not a big deal way. But in my own experience the very few Rolex’s I’ve sold have gone for what I paid for them or a bit more. Suits me fine and still don’t see that materially changing as there’s a big world out there outside of enthusiast forums that are a microscopic part of the wider market in my view.

They have jacked up the prices of full PM pieces that even with the 10-15% discount that is coming soon it will cost just as much as couple of months ago at regular store price ..

LoL, can't believe people are still surprised that a $40K plain yellow gold day date is offered to a walk in customer, like it's some sort of a miracle .. No one stays at the top forever ..

I was in Dubin last weekend and saw for sale a DD36RBR, RG Skydweller on OF and YG full gold sky dweller. With VAT back for tourists I was tempted with the RG SkyD on OF. In London I saw a YG Skydweller for sale, guess it starts at the top and filters down.

I was at my local AD over the weekend. Only watches available are the ones that nobody wants.

Lots of stock and not many buyers
Majority selling below list
God knows how these retailers are going to sell some of them watches and just imagine rolex raises prices again. Will be a good way for rolex to chop the more independent retailers for not pushing the sales

I feel also due to the UK not having any VAT refunds, the pricing in the UK is fairly high compared to other countries, maybe this is affecting stock levels as well.

Was at a popular AD in downtown Philly on a recent weekend with my wife. Sorta gate crashed after a brunch date. Even though the sign by door said appt required, we were assigned an SA almost immediately upon entering.

I was hoping to try on the Zenith chrono sport. Turns out they didn’t have brand in that location. However the SA noticed my sub and walked us to the Rolex section. She showed us multiple TT DJs and even a PM Daytona on OF for purchase. She said she could make any of that work other than SS models. Wasn’t really prepared to make a spot purchase and I wasn’t sure if I wanted anything other than SS yet. And wifey isn’t into watches. So politely thanked her and left.

I was a bit dumbfounded by the experience. Maybe it is starting to happen. :)

Interesting article I read this morning. Also of note, apparently there was a treasury bond yield inversion starting last October and that's always followed by a recession in 6-12 months or so I read. Being a "set and forget" value investor I only check my net worth quarterly and wasn't paying attention other than taking advantage of some nice CD specials at my bank.

Also, people have to start paying their student loans again in October. That is gonna bite if you're a professional (IE Rolex buyer) with large loans, or have a business that might slow down if people have less to spend.

I feel like fall might be a good time for watch buying. Next spring even better if Christmas is slow this year.

Very nice! Which PM Daytona did they have available?

I recall the SA mentioning WG and it had light colored dial. TBH I was so giddy at that point and I had mentally blocked out any chance of Daytona so early in my Rolex journey (and hence the Zenith interest in the first place) that I didn’t ask / recognize the reference.

I'll say it again - 90% of these Rolex models will be trading at MSRP or below soon - so nobody is making any money off them by flipping anymore.

The more models that become like this (which majority will) and only a select few will have premiums we will see more and more stock in the windows.

The ONLY reason why it became crazy in the past was because there was easy money to be made. Now the profits disappeared and no-one cares anymore unless your a real watch nerd.

As mentioned about a week ago the big AD in Amsterdam had about a dozen two tone and PM variants available for sale. Nothing stainless. Was in Paris last week and the large Rolex boutique said they had nothing for sale. The store was spectacular however and the only reference they didn’t have on display was the new blue/green dial RG Skydweller which she said they won’t get until September. However there was some young (20s) Asian guy I saw in the back buying three watches (I randomly also saw him in the back of AP buying something later that day) anyway now in London for a week and will take a look.
