Steel Daytona for sure.
Can't go wrong with a Sub (I prefer no date).

Again, it comes down to who you ask and what their favourite watch is. I think the BLRO is a good candidate. It's been going since 1954 and the 6542 is instantly recognisable and comparable to the 126710BLRO, even having a technically interesting (for the era) bezel insert. Then again, the 4467 introduced in 1945 is instantly recognisable and comparable to today's DJ and it's stood the test of time so far. It's probably the most recognisable Rolex.

All the reps there wanted to see and touch the watch, they never seen one in the flesh. When i picked it up, the reps came again to compliment the watch.

Very cool. I do think that it is one of the best in the entire Rolex catalogue. A proper heavy hitter with useful complication to be worn as a daily, stealthy, sporty, and fun. I was just curious how safe it is to wear it all the time everywhere.

I haven’t felt unsafe yet. It will depend on where you go and how aware you are of your surroundings. I’m not a flashy guy so i think that helps too.

BLNR or a black sub. Both will likely not patina like the greats of yore but it will show wear and tell a story.

Something in steel with a black dial - i.e. nothing gimmicky or "of the moment" - is going to be the most timeless IMO.

Well, unfortunately for my two boys, I've decided for them. The oldest will get my SubDate, and the younger, my BLNR. Then I got a little carried away and bought two more so now they'll each get two!

I’d probably just buy a gift certificate for whatever the new Apple Watch is in 2055, because that’s what kids care about. The pocket watch left by my grandparents never leaves my drawer.
