Post a WTB, be prepared for fraudsters

Interesting.

I have posted a few WTB posts in the the for sale section… amazing how many solicitations I received from likely fraudsters.

No post history. Joined within a month. All want to communicate off the platform.

Wasn’t aware of how much fraud there is… be vigilant folks.

Have completed a few deals, so it can be done.

Ya it's a joke for the most part.
I posted a WTB for a VTNR a couple of months ago and got so many obvious frauds.
One guy sent me pictures of the watch (obvious internet pics I had seen before).
Sent me pictures of himself - 60+ years old saying he was retired Air Force.
When I asked about the watch he said he got it 6 years ago from an AD. Yes, 6 years ago.
My response - "Nice try buddy. That watch came out last year."

WTB = flypaper. Why even do it? When I do your own due diligence and searching.

I'd amend your post with requirement to vet out fraud. Number of years on forum, post requirement, and even alternate sites with positive feedback.

Be careful. The internet and social media has increased the hype on Rolex so much. Lots of scary stuff out there.

Just ask one of the trusted sellers to find what you want.

I tried selling a watch here and was immediately hit with a couple fraudsters who tried sending a phishing link that went to a copy of TRF to steal credentials to I assume scam potential buyers. It happened twice within a week of posting, it’s crazy how rampant it is here on the forum.

For the 1st time this week after being on here for a long time I thought I'd advertise a couple watches. Straight away I got a message asking to click on a link to sell the watch!
I don't know if its worth trying to sell on here or not?
Take care

I follow Rolex on LinkedIn. A couple of years ago I was “befriended” by a lady who claimed to work for an AD in Holland and that she could get me a batgirl. I played along with it for a while but obviously was not stupid enough to part with any money.

I tried to sell a hugely popular non Rolex, hard to find at retail sites. The only interest I got was from a guy who joined the forum, the day before. After a couple of PMs, I decided it wasn’t worth the risk. I put it on eBay, and it sold quickly.
