New DB28 release

This recent release from De Bethune is mesmerizing. It’s the DB28xp with the blued treatment being a defining feature of DB creations.
There are only 25 being made, which naturally poses a challenge for allocation. Understandably, the WatchBox leadership will need to balance prioritization of existing clients with attracting prospective ones. To date, they’ve been fair in the context of finding this balance. Moreover, given small production numbers and the patience of most clients, it is very reasonable that certain collectors/clients be prioritized with select releases such as this. Good luck to any such forum members seeking one of these blued beauties, or alternatively future releases.

I still prefer their original perpetual the best. Elegant old-world style and design to stand the test of time. This model reflects the current style trend of big emphasis on bright colors and loud new designs. Will it last or is it a fad, is the question.

I appreciate them but the design language doesn’t speak to me.

That design doesn't speak to me personally. It's too modern and trendy looking and too extreme for my taste. I prefer a more classic and timeless design.

Did they put the crown at the top of the watch? Why?

I can understand that as DB takes a unique approach to design, depending on the model line. I would expect you’d appreciate their DB25 Starry Varius a lot.
Regarding the crown, it’s at the top because of their “floating lugs” design where the pivots on each side of the case allow for the lugs to be ‘pulled’ down to conform to the wrist. If you look at a video you’ll see what I mean. It is very cool honestly.

loved the titan hawk and db28 moon phase when I tried them on. at first I thought with thewatchbox buying them, the financial security would make it more appealing, but somehow now they don't excite me as much. but it's not like me not caring would affect them in the least.

Prefer the recently released DB28xs Starry Seas which is more friendly to my wrist at 38.7mm by 7.4mm than this latest 43mm by 8.5mm DB28 XP.

I don't like debethune's style at all. Appreciate they have their own identity but they look too freaky for me.

Agreed, the Starry Seas is a nice new variation on the Starry Varius. Also, good point about this new size, which is appropriate for this elegant DB and wears better for most people.

I took a look at the DB25 Starry Varius online. It is an interesting piece. I like to see new brands putting their own personal spin on things. But I would prefer if it was 36mm, stainless steel or gold, didn't have hollowed out lugs and had a seconds hand. Do you have one of these pieces? They are quite steep!

Tried it on last week. Personally think it’s a monstrosity.

You make a very good point about the size. Actually, their newer release called Starry Seas is around 38mm, which makes it more wearable by many. Their production is small, and they are quite steep…which is a heavy reality of a number of select brands. Still, given production and workmanship of these special DB pieces, WatchBox has been fair with stable pricing. As a client, I continue to follow up with them about an allocation which I had to clear out other pieces for and hope to be able to share soon given the wait.

Let me guess - you'd rather have a Patek, AP or Rolex.

Wow, that looks more amazing on your wrist than in a stand-alone picture!
I realize that their designs are not traditional, but it does depend on the model line. Overall, their reinterpretations of ‘traditional’ as well as their innovations are what make their pieces singular and worth considering in a collection.
While this piece didn’t click with you, your wrist shot still showcases its beauty and presence, so thank you for sharing this.

I'm still mad I didn't buy more DB's when no one wanted them. The blued titanium is stunning in person.

I really like a lot of DB (such as the one Ichiran posted above) but this particular release doesn't do a whole lot for me.
