Celebration

Saw this for the first time in person by chance today. I was actually shocked to just see it sat there in a window.

https://martinoliva.co.uk/shop/rolex...023-boxpapers/

Fair price?

Got to say I didn’t think it looked as good in person as online

I didn’t think the colours were as vibrant as I expected.

I like the look of them and price for me doesn’t seem too bad

Celebration

That’s an aftermarket dial - and not a very good one. Colors are very off to me and the description says “custom” celebration dial.

And even though a 36, the price seems suspiciously low.

Shame on that seller for not being more forthcoming with it being aftermarket.

Could well be aftermarket.

Look at the bubbles at 10, 11 and 1.

- The yellow bubble at 11 touches the baton marker, on Rolex website, and others too, the yellow doesn't touch the 11 baton.

- The blue bubble at 10 is only on the top side of the baton, in other Rolex pics its on both sides of the 10 baton.

- the red bubble at 1 goes under the baton, in other Rolex pics you can see the edge of the bubble before it meets the baton.

I mean a few photos along it shows a sign saying custom dial, and shows the original blue dial too

ahhh

i feel a bit of a fool now.

i actually just saw it in the shop window.

i didnt look at all those pictures or read the description. i just posted the link for reference.

devil is in detail as always.

maybe that's why i found it somewhat unimpressive. hopefully i'll see a genuine one someday soon to compare.

Haha, this is why I only buy from the AD - I just don’t trust anyone else and don’t think I could spot it!

They also have a blue dial 36mmm listed and I imagine it's the same watch without the 'custom' celebration as it's up only £600 less

Does feel a bit misleading to not state it clearly in the description like they do with their aftermarket diamond watches

Not sure what they mean by the use of the word custom. Are all the Celebration dials identical in motif design?

Custom is another term for aftermarket non original dial not made by rolex

I’m shocked to imagine there is a market for this junk.

And £9k too!

As already mentioned, I can confirm it is an aftermarket dial.

That dealer might as well have a sign, "Don't trust me! Things aren't quite as they seem at first glance. I'm adding an extra layer of doubt and suspicion that most other dealers shy away from. I won't be flat-out honest with you from the outset. Beware."

Martin Oliva.

A name to remember.

Even if they made this super super clear is it a modified / almost fake watch

I just can’t get my head around why someone would want this? Especially for £9k.

Am I missing something ?

Oh.

Well, I wouldn't do it myself either, but I could see someone wanting it. It's like wearing a homage watch: you're wearing something that you know isn't the real-deal, but it looks like it and that's enough, that's all you want.

At least, I'm presuming that's why someone might want it.

Based on the additional pics, looks like they include the original blue dial it came with along with that horrible fake dial.

No idea what a standard blue dial OP sells for though.

Agreed 100%

Should have clearly been disclosed in the description.

From a dealer in the UK maybe around £7,500 for a a unworn 2023

But they have one for £8,400 so they are charging £600 for the fake celebration dial

I assume having opened the watch up to fit the dial will have voided the 5 year warranty

I don’t see any point to this when you can get the original watch at your AD for less money brand new.

Yes, but they are very scarce. While trolling eBay, I saw a lot of red, yellow, and green dial OPs, with aftermarket dials, too. Members here would never knowingly buy a new Rolex, with an aftermarket dial, but I guess there are folks out there, who would, or vendors wouldn’t go through the trouble of cobbling them together.

Buying a watch on eBay is pretty sketchy.

Lol the advertisement clearly says 'custom' meaning fake dial

I picked a real one up for my wife from my AD a few weeks ago. She wanted the 41mm version as she's always worn 40-41mm watches.
And the OP wears quite a bit smaller/slimmer than many of Rolex's professional watches so she's be over the moon when its unboxed for her birthday soon.

It's a lovely watch in the flesh. I would have the puzzle dial DD if it came in 40mm. 36mm is just too small for me.
