Silver OP36 in Manhattan Possible or a Pipe Dream?

Visiting the city soon and was wondering if anyone has any idea whether getting the basic OP36 in silver is realistic? I tried a few AD's here in Toronto a few months ago and have not heard back. Kind of crazy to me that even a simple model is tough to get.

The OP is Rolexes cheapest watch, so they’re going to produce them in smaller quantities.

With that said, silver OP36 shouldn’t be impossible. I’d guess the easiest OP to get. Keep visiting ADs. Market is softening. You’ll get it

It’s a steel Rolex. Surely crazier things have happened.

Not hard to get. Just have to make a good connection with the SA.

I’m surprised that Toronto AD’s have not been able to get you this piece. Did you follow up?

I've been offered 36s in the GTA. Also, DJ36 in the most base configuration is a solid choice.

I agree should be fairly easy to find one.

In New York City, not likely. In the “old days,” like 2017 or prior, NY dealers probably sold lots of watches to visitors. Since Rolexmania started many more local folks became potential customers and I doubt there is yet a return to easy availability yet.
To all those thinking an OP is easy to get, have you asked for one recently? With all the different sizes and color variations available, I think even the biggest dealers don’t get a huge supply.

I waited a year to get mine, and the silver is NOT the easiest color to gett. The black or bright blue are the easiest to get. Certainly try several ADs. It is absolutely stunning IRL! Good luck!

No harm in trying but I would continue to follow up with your local AD's

unlikely as a walk in + tourist. just go grey for this one, the premium is pretty small and not worth waiting months to a year for an AD to call you. check out the diamond district when you're here and see if you can get yourself one

If you walk over to 47th Street, you will probably see many for sale.

I think they are more difficult to acquire than they should be because that size appeals to both men and women.

The NY Metro area may one of the hardest places to find a Rolex from an AD.

Probably true. Any big city, where there is a lot of wealth, is going to be more difficult to get a sought after Rolex, and the latest OPs are very popular. As I mentioned, I got the call a full year after my initial request. I live in the Bay Area, near SF.

I know from personal experience. I have multiple ADs where I've spent a lot of time and money to get pieces. Its not an easy game to play wherever there's a lot of money flying around. You walk into any NY AD and you're probably the 20th person that asked for a sub that day.

I admit to having played the game, texted monthly, popped in every 3 months, or so, The SA felt like we were friends, so wanted to get me my silver OP. A lot of people poopoo that idea, but it does work. I needed the wedding jewelry anyway, and my AD is one of the better jewelers in the Bay Area. When he did finally call, and I went to pick it up, he said he wanted to make sure I had it, before my wedding, which is next Saturday……Yikes!
